Well im gonna keep the emaxx tranny for sure. I am however looking into some lst diffs and shocks but i'll wait till the stock ones break.

If you run 4s or easy with 5s you will probably be ok.

OK I know it' been awhile, I did some reworking/finishing touches on my 1/8 scale rock buggy and I also built a 2.2 Berg for comping.
But I have returned and have started on my horizontal shock setup for a few reasons:
IN the hopes of fitting on a more aerodynamic -better handling body this giant body really hinders speed and handling, I cant stop building and tweaking and I love the champ car F-1 car look.

If any of you has seen a thread or knows someone that makes polycarbonate bodies or there is a how to please let me know.

I haven't started a thread yet. Im kinda side tracking for now due to several reasons money, money and money. I have most of the stuff but the wheels, tires and body are gonna cost me an arm and a leg. Tomorrow I'll be going to my buddies house to get a truggy chassis designed. But for now no fifth scale stuff to pricey. But the thought of doing it is always there. I'll be constantly checking on this thread to check on progress!!!

What i planned on buying

Axial Oversized wheels

I cant say I think much of proline road rages, I bought a set for my buggy and to steal Gee's phrase it was like an elephant on stilts with them fitted, There very floppy and easily the worst on-road tyres I've used.

I love them on my 1/10 cars, up to 45mph.
Not sure about the 5" and 50+ mph

The front turned out just ok, it was a bit tricky getting around the steering. I'll probably make a nicer one later. The rear one took a few hours machining in my drill press but it came out great.

The new body I plan on making. In researching forming Polycarbonate it looks like money and time wise I will make a PVC body first.

What tires where you using speed assault?

I could've sworn I've seen that body or one like it, in an online store from europe

HPI makes the escudo body for 10th scale IIRC

Originally I used Sport works Auto cross tires, they did ok on 3s but it still burned out.
I'm now using FG wheels, machined hub to decrease the wheel offset.

In all my searching for a GTP or cool like body I have only found one

I dont understand why they are not more widely used, espeacially now that they have semi truck race bodies :lol:


I have been researching to find a material to carve and form to but no luck yet.

Er, you realize that the bodies for the Baja 5T range from ~125 to like ~175? Just to put it in perspective.


Why not modeling clay? Start by using wood to take up most of the volume, then put the modeling clay on top of that and work into the shape. This is basically how they do clay models of full size vehicles. Probably easiest to do details, etc. with.

Then you can do a two-step mold on top of that, then use that mold to produce your final plug for use in the vacuum forming process.

This is what I've been toying with myself as I need to widen a SC8 body to fit my RC8T.
