Reroute to remain, in flames

:whistle:Ok time for critics corner... I won't be too hard on ya I promise.

I like alot of what I see here, ATR, LOG, In Flames, Kata, FF (gods) and then it comes- Metallica :whip:- sorry guys they are about as exciting as a candle in a light bulb factory, I actually have a pet name for them which I won't repeat here as it would be needlessly offensive to said fans. And what the hell is it with you young'uns still beating the 70's classic rock dead horse- I'm 36 and I was tired of that crap before the 70's were even over!

I swear the radio plays about 25 songs- same order every day, playlist NEVER changes- but when Layla comes on someone HAS to say

"GREAT song man!"

UGH makes me want to chew friggin concrete...

Anyway rock on wit yo bad selves and no harm intended.

Check out Byzantine "Jeremiad" on Youtube -or anything by these guys- stunning- and the new In Flames "Alias" on yt also.

Was gonna list a few more but this is easier- www.last.fm/user/phase_illusion

There should be one or two there you'll like:sleep:

Byzantine...:diablo:  Their song "Taking Up Serpents" is pretty awesome. I do like Metallica, I just wish their songs were about half their length. It's good, but the same riff over and over again gets old, quick. Also, if you really pay attention, their songs have sooo much "dead space" where there isn't any music at all. It's in small increments, but it all adds up.

redshift 01.23.2009 12:18 AM

Byzantine actually broke up just about a year ago- right after their third album -Oblivion Beckons was released- shame. There isn't much from them available for freeplay on the net it seems- but I have all 3 albums and they are all masterworks of the genre IMO.

As far as Metallica, the last good album I think was Master of Puppets- if not only for it's lyrical brilliance in commenting on society's inherent dysfunction...... ok I'm no critic really but And Justice For All was similar in message and feel- but had poor production quality- very tinny and hollow sounding--- again I'm not a critic but- 'Orion' I still think, is genius.... they sold out boys.

The Black Album. The beginning of the End........ I'll just leave it at that
