I ordered my 36-80 2200 Kv on October 27th, can't wait to get it.

Is it true that that 36-80 is basically Neu 1521 sized?

suicideneil 11.18.2008 12:10 PM

1521 = 83mm length, 39mm diameter (smooth can)

Medusa is 80mm in length, but 36mm in diameter.

I'd say the 36/80 was somewhere inbetween a 1515 and 1521 for power, closer to the 1515 probably. (1515 is 68mm in length and 39mm in diameter).

MetalMan 11.18.2008 03:39 PM

Just got a reply back from Medusa a few minutes ago regarding my preorder:

Okay, I guess the Thanksgiving holiday was not foreseen by the Medusa people.

suicideneil 11.18.2008 05:19 PM

Patience is a virtue

I assume that means Mike will be getting them around that time too- gigiddy.

BL_RV0 11.18.2008 08:00 PM

I think you mean gigiddy, gigiddy, goo.

OMG what is this Thanksgiving holiday you speak of?!

Yeah, I heard end of November from them. Hopefully this new date will hold.

jacko 11.19.2008 11:30 AM

... can't wait to try it out.

Unsullied_Spy 11.30.2008 10:18 PM

I E-Mailed Medusa about when they will be shipping and they said they had a machining problem with the mounting holes so they got delayed. Jeff Little said they will be shipping within 2 weeks

Yeah, I called them this morning and was pretty much told the same thing. Also mentioned that those who pre-ordered through their web store will get the motors before distributors and vendors. And I am one of the first of those buyers :yipi:

suicideneil 12.01.2008 07:06 PM

Boo, you suck!

I can wait though- right now my fingers are frozen stiff so I couldnt operate the sticks on my radio if I wanted too...

SunnyHouTX 12.01.2008 08:23 PM

Sour grapes, eh Neil?

BL_RV0 12.02.2008 12:18 AM

sleebus.jones 12.02.2008 01:41 PM

Arg. I had hoped that they would be in the mail already so when I got back from my thanksgiving trip it'd be there waiting. Pewp.

JesseV 12.08.2008 08:34 AM

Cant wait to get one. Bored of breaking these china-xl motors, 4th going now. :D

You've already spent the cost of a Medusa on those things

I've got a freebie 6XL in my Hyper 7, running it hard on 4s until it dies.

sleebus.jones 12.08.2008 08:50 AM

I sold my 10XL, so now I'm motorless :( Hopefully they will be here in the next week. Maybe I'll get lucky and my LHS will have rims for my RC10T4 so I can run that this coming weekend. =/

hoovhartid 12.08.2008 12:40 PM

So.... any word on the arrival of these phantom 70mm and 80mm motors?

I see a few people pre-ordered them over 2 months ago....

....but I have not seen anyone actually get one yet...other than mike...did I miss something?

JesseV 12.08.2008 06:03 PM

Nice. :O

Hope its same for the 70mm motors.

I dunno if i made a mistake by ordering the 70mm 2300kv for my brushless 1/8 buggy. Seems like the amp draw for 2200kv 80mm is about the same. But more power.

If you are pulling the same amount of amps for a given voltage, the power is the same.

The 70mm Medusa will do fine in a buggy. Many run the 60mm in a buggy with success - although i wouldn't unless it was really light (~7lbs).

Then you would hate to be me . I have a 36-60-1600 in my ~10lb Jammin Truggy on 5s .

He will only hate you if your running a FAN on it :na::lol:.

BrianG 12.08.2008 06:59 PM

lol, I'm sure it works fine, I just wouldn't run it that's all.

And yes, if you were running a fan, I would REALLY hate it!

MetalMan 12.08.2008 07:52 PM

Then you'd be happy to know the MMM on that truck is fan-less .

But back on topic, I can't wait for the 80mm Medusa I ordered to show up! My Savage hasn't been driven in about 3-4 months because the crap KD-36 went over 300 deg. and a Feigao 12XL met a similar fate.

MTBikerTim 12.08.2008 08:32 PM

Yeah I wan't an 80mm for my savage but at AU$250 for a motor I think I'll keep running my feigao until it smokes. Brian would hate my feigao too. It's running 2 fans

Jabe 12.09.2008 09:35 AM

They better to ship those motor tomorrow...
Im also missing motor, so I cant drive and i dont like to wait any longer.

We had a machining issue with the mounting holes that had to be corrected which caused a slight delay.

That email randomly showed up in my email inbox today, in addition to the email I received from them last week.

Unsullied_Spy 12.10.2008 04:55 AM

I got pretty much the same E-Mail from Jeff. I'll be ecstatic if mine ships out later today, I should have it by Monday or so and my Muggy will live again!

sleebus.jones 12.10.2008 09:07 AM

Hm. I've got no such email with my 70mm order. Maybe you 80mm guys are just lucky.

"We expect to start shipping next week.

Depending upon the number of pre-orders when an order will go out."

Mozzy 12.10.2008 11:29 AM

You have to E-Mail them to find out. When I asked they said within 2 weeks, then they said Wednesday, now they're saying next week. I wish they would quit screwing us around and give us a definitive date. I don't care when it is (as long as it isn't next fall, then I'd cancel my order) I just wish they would give us the right date.
