Well. Your truggy looks good, though mine is better.

brushlessboy16 01.08.2009 08:45 AM

Alright guys whos the dooshbag that tagged the thread as Fat Lip's truggy.. See i have no problem with poking fun but thats really over the top..

Anyways, I got some progress done yesterday... Mounted my Hellfire 52t steel spur gear, Flipped the motor mount and Finally mounted my mudguards.. I refuse to drill more holes in the chassis so they were epoxied on :)

trev3813 01.08.2009 10:31 AM

Wow, I knew that thread tags would be used for evil!

You want a pic of his lip? Isn't that taking this a bit far?

In all honesty guys, why not get your posts the old fashioned way, by answering questions, or at least contributing to the thread in some way. I just wasted my time reading the last 5 pages or so, mainly cause I feel bad that I do not keep up with some of the members threads. I will not make that mistake again, as there is little to no useful info here, just idle chit chat. Not to sound like a hipocrite, but I never BS as much as you guys.

Im really not a fan of the spam... itsnot really a matter of who gets to a post number first... espcially if most of your posts are "looks nice" or "cool"
I agree with linc that this has gotten out of hand- a little joke here and there is fine but it has gotten to be obnoxious.. Aim is for chatting- forums are for (foruming?)Information.

Anyways...

More pics as promised..

Ended up using a 2 part 15 minute epoxy to attach the chassis guards to the chassis.

The only pain was that the screw holes on my spur gear were off by 1mm... had to drill them out to make it fit. Just about everyone here knows how much it takes to drill through hardened steel....

My amain Hobbies order should be home when I get there-its got a new set of center diff mounts as mine are starting to cross thread and strip... Along with a nice 2.5mm ball end hex driver and some screws.

Some other things I have coming are my LED's from SuperBrightLEDs.com
-3x 3mm white leds
-3x 3mm red leds
I got the brightest I could find:yes:
And to compliment those leds I have a couple of reistors and plan on using a servo on my 3rd channel to flip a switch.

_paralyzed_ 01.08.2009 05:50 PM

That's what you mean by, "spam much". Spam is junk e-mail, I don't understand how junk e-mail corrolates to chit chat, maybe it's your own word for it?

moving on.......

I wish there was a place for RCM live chat. It could make the threads less "cluttered". But there isn't. So I guess I'm back to "spamming"

Maybe create/find some kind of "permanent" chat room for RCM members only, and then post the link to it in a thread here? I'm sure there has to be something out there like this. I don't think Mike is gonna spend the time/money to have his web host come up with and install such an application here.

Yeah, I wouldn't even think about asking Mike. A waste of money. I like the AIM idea but I believe that's only two way? Does anyone know any public forums RCM members can take over? We could then make the link a sticky.

trev3813 01.08.2009 06:17 PM

You could have a big aim chat, you can add like, 30 people. Or make a chat room.

BrianG 01.08.2009 06:29 PM

And it would have to be "permanent"; meaning it has to persist even if no one happens to be in the room. Can you imagine the spammers and noobs that are gonna be there. Neil will go into fits!

BL_RV0 01.08.2009 08:32 PM

Looking good dude. I like the mugen rims.

brushlessboy16 01.09.2009 09:02 AM

Thanks, Got some more progress done after school yesterday. bent my trays out of kydex. Completely finished one but the other needs to be trimmed and put the ends on the tray.
Also received my new center diff mounts from Amain-so All I'm waiting for is the trays to be completed. Also installed my 13t pinion. Just need to find a place for my reciever and Esc.

JesseV 01.09.2009 09:53 AM

I think I need new spur for my BL matrix, kinda awful sound with the metal pinion. The gap is ok but still the sound is horrible. I bought the buggy second hand and I think the middle diff is Hobao. What spurs would fit on it?
http://www.aijaa.com/img/t/00520/3349250.t.jpg

I have to say this new 70mm 2300kv Medusa is good with 4s. After 10min of driving on a track indoor today the motor was only 35C (95F)

Took a little video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkauGYdagKU

brushlessboy16 01.09.2009 01:02 PM

Im pretty sure most 1/8th scale diff gears would work- what model car is the CD out of?

I love my metal spur gear- not THAT load and wont ever strip. The 52t Hellfire gear I got is also steel- i havent run it to see if it is any louder

I think its Hobao. LiquidRC ships 0,99usd to Finland too so I usually order stuff from there. They have only Asso rc8 spur or inferno spur.

BrianG 01.09.2009 01:18 PM

yeah, there are a lot of choices when using the Hobao diff. I know that the Kyosho 46T plastic spur Mike has does fit. You might have to get some diff gaskets and/or shims to get the internal mesh perfect though.

brushlessboy16 01.09.2009 01:26 PM

I found out that either the diff case on my matrix's center diff (aluminum) was warped or the hellfire uses about 1mm larger hole spacing cuz i have to persuade it to get on :)

Thats a big truggy. Makes the MMM look like the MM in the first pic. Is it heavy?

brushlessboy16 01.10.2009 12:50 AM

Its not a big truck, just really long.. Look at the batteries- they fit between the rear diff housing and center diff mount... MMM Runs like a champ though :)

BL_RV0 01.10.2009 12:51 AM

Do you think you could get a closer shot of the trays? How hard was it to bend the kydex? Where did you get it? How much money?

brushlessboy16 01.10.2009 01:03 AM

Its 3/16 kydex plastic, was maybe 10 bucks for a 24x18 sheet. Its easy to bend the stuff with a plumbers torch and some patience- all the dark marks you see are burn marks

http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...9091914_01.jpg

eovnu87435ds 01.10.2009 01:07 AM

kydex doesnt need to be very very hot to bend... I was making my own out of kydex... really strong plastic. its a 1/4 inch thick, and I used a plumbing torch. You only need to go back and forth a few times until it is warm enough to bend. And you dont really need gloves or anything, I could hold it with my hands and bend it. It is a little tough to bend, but you will get it sooner or later. as for finding some, go to ebay and type kydex

Its 3/16 :)

Whatever you do- dont stop moving the torch.. And it takes a while to heat if your trying not to burn it- if u could care less about how it looks its alot faster

Arct1k 01.10.2009 01:13 AM

Looking good... Just get some sticky foam from the craft shop to line them. The stuff kids cut out for pictures works well.

Got the extra mile and get the dremmel / sandpaper to the edges of the trays and motor mount. You've put so much effort in go the last bit...

Cool, thanks.

brushlessboy16 01.10.2009 08:58 PM

Ran the truck today at school(robotics) ran pretty well aside from a few things- the new spur gear is louder then the humongous 66t,My motor mount came loose and almost totaled my pinion(my fault-loctite time). The only real problem was the front walls of both battery trays broke out- they were held in by 2 little m3 coarse screws. both screws pulled out when i came off a jump and landed nose first...perpendicular to the ground. 2 part epoxy should do a better job no?

The truck turns a hell of alot better with the 0 offset wheels and the weight better distributed.. Now I just need to get some bent tie rod ends to clear the wheels and get my steering throw back

eovnu87435ds 01.10.2009 09:09 PM

ya. we both kinda failed today at school... I slid off a curb i was riding parallel to, and hit the corner of the curb with only the front left arm, and did cartwheels 5 feet in the air, and tumbled all the way into the building 25 ft away. nothing broke that time. then i backed into the curb at a slow slow speed and the front bumper shattered

trev3813 01.10.2009 09:15 PM

Well, i jumped a dirt pile with my revo so there :mdr:

Seriousness, sounds like alot of fun.

Our(mike and I) back up radio is a POS 75mhz fm with some dead rechargable Nicads... it decides when it wants to work and only has about 50 foot range. it sucks

I just realized my matrix is a mess. Hong Nor rear hub carriers, hobao front hub carriers (metal both), hobao rear and center diff, torsen front diff. Other parts are Cen factory race parts. Hmm what next, maybe the Inferno spur? :P
