I would rather have it right than right now.

I was curious if anyone actually has all of the equipment needed to convert a Baja or equivalent 1/5th. IE Motor good for 8s and pushing the weight, a motor mount, pinion gear, and big ol' batteries? And if so what you were using for motors and a mount.

Just wondering if we had a controller how many people would actually be ready for a controller today.

Thanks for the feedback fellas!

WOW. 1/5 ESC codename "These Nuts".

billy gunn 03.12.2010 07:09 PM

I would. Have a Baja 5t running a NEU2230 using my custom motor mount. It has been run at 8s and 10s already. I have several gear ratios that I can use. Would be a case of me wiring in the speedo and charging up some batteries.

Electric Eel 03.12.2010 07:32 PM

Ready now. I have a 2220 on 12S. Using an Ice HV160 with a Pistix. I have a godawful homemade mount that is an embarrassing combo of Fine Design clamps and my own hack machining.
I have heard rumors that Castle is working on their own Baja kit. No comment, right Tom.

Make me the 3rd person. I have three 1/5 scale cars that I would use.

#1- 1/5 electric on-road- I would just drop in your ESC.

#2- Custom made 1/5 scale Rally- I would need to buy a motor.

#3- MCD 1/5 Dessert Truck- I would need to buy a motor and machine a mount.

Have 4 sets of 4S Thunderpower batts.

Have UBECs that can handle up to 24 cells.

I'm don't have a RC ready yet but I have plans to build somthing 1/5 scale soon.
However, I'm more than willing and ready to buy a controller whenever one becomes availible. So count me for one !

1/5th scale? No, I'm not into that (yet).

But I do want an E Revo on 8S really bad.

lutach 03.12.2010 08:22 PM

I already run 8S in my light weight truggy. Super efficient and haven't had any problems with overheating and getting less then 30 minutes on 25C lipos. I'll probably wait a bit until everyone is happy to get one though.

OZ-RUSTLER 03.12.2010 09:10 PM

Have an Neu 2220 being built and have a pair of Hyperion 6S G3's ready.
Just waiting on controller and Mikes conversion.

I think just "Nuts" would be appropriate for such insanity. I knew there had to be people out there running some of these setups already. I've seen videos of a 10s setup with a Neu 2225, and all I can say is...wow. I didn't think you could move 20 pounds around like that, but it was doing it and then some. It's good to see there are setups out there you could take you for a spin around the block.

Now that's a video I'd like to see! :yipi: And I can't comment on something I know nothing about. Sometimes it's better to not know and plausible deniability can be a powerful ally. I doubt you'll see too much hardware from us, but sometimes you never know.

SV6000 03.12.2010 10:38 PM

I have an 8s revo that i am currently running, i would take two of your speed controllers.
