Are you sure the Infero GT bodies will fit? The Inferno chassis is an inch or so shorter than the DM-1 Spec. I lined up the stock Proto Form PF8 GT body on my DM-1 Spec and there just isn't an inch of excess room...so I am thinking that if I were to try and fit an Inferno GT body on the DM-1 Spec that it would be too small:neutral:

No. I have not actually seen the Inferno GT bodies on a DM-1 Spec. I have yet to see the DM-1 Spec! Researching I have noticed people selling either the Protoform and/or Inferno GT bodies and mentioning they will fit either. My understanding that the Inferno GT has a 325mm (min.) wheelbase and knowing the DM-1 Spec has a 330mm wheelbase.

Sorry if I mislead anyone but was under the impression the bodies fit both based on the way sellers post their descriptions. Maybe the wheelbase is close but not fit due to suspension packaging. Anyway, I have purchased the Inferno GT Ferrari body and have every intent to fit it onto the DM-1 once that arrives. I can only speak from experience then . . .:mdr:

Thanks. Let us know when yours arrives. The only reason I asked if you had actually seen one mounted is because I intend to have Team3Six order and paint the body for me...and I want to be 100% sure that the Inferno bodies fit (without significant mod) before I drop that kind of loot.

I have attached a spreadsheet which you can use to calculate potential speed for your application. I am not sure if Kyosho uses the same diffs in the GT as they do in the buggy. I would say 90mph is pushing it but is possible nonetheless . . .

This is the latest on my build. I took it out for some speed runs and made some modifications. I put in some thicker center diff fluid and I still am not happy (frontend "diffs out" no matter what I do), so I am going to install the solid center shaft with a 51T spur. You were right Brian...I actually ordered the parts today. When I switch the diff out, I will also clean up the steering servo bracket as suggested!

I installed my HPI D-Box drift assist and it really seemed to help keep it steady on the high speed straight aways.


I also installed one of Mike's new battery trays...it just lined up better and provided more "opportunities" to bolt it down more securely--particularly towards the center of the chassis. Everything seems more solid now and there is less chassis flex.

Lastly...I put my amateur paint skills to work and painted the stock shell. Eventually, I'd still like to have a better/thicker shell painted by somebody who actually specializes in that sort of thing. After painting this monster, I have truly grown to appreciate the amount of work and effort that goes into the whole masking, painting, cutting, and sanding process.

But with a Ofna GTP. Local nitro guys call electric's "flashlights." Well I plan on a lot of flash in lighting the gas boys up.

Truly sweet! I hope to get you feedback soon about the Kyosho bodies. When you say "diffs out" does that mean there is not adequate power transfer? I will look into the solid shafts as well. My plan was to go with the Kyosho 46T spur--I hope that will not be too small.

Alrighty, the Kyosho Inferno GT body finally came in and I measured the wheelbase at just a hair above 13 inches. This tells me that the Inferno GT bodies will fit the DM-1 Spec just fine. Be sure to order GT bodies and not the longer (330mm?) GT2. I do not think any modification is required but will not know for sure since my DM-1 spec is on back order :cry:.

Nah, made from the standard stuff. The body is flimsy in some spots and nice and rigid in others. I bet once the wheel wells are cut the whole thing will be a bit on the flimsy side. I wonder if it will buckle from the sheer speed of the brushless? :lol:

Well that is good to know. My stock PF8 body is flimsy but it seems to hold up fine during speed runs.
