D-day approaches...
Hi everyone,
Soooo, i had a near death experience... read on to find out more, or you could skip the next paragraph to get to the RC news  Long story short, i was trying out for a scholarship to drive race cars and had an accident at the trial. I hit a wall and cracked one of the vertebrae in my neck all the way through, so pretty much i broke my neck. Luckily there was no splintering or anything and the doctors said i was very lucky not to have more damage to my spinal cord or anywhere else on my body given the force of the impact. I was in hospital all of last week and had an operation to fuse my vertebrae back together, and just got discharged at the start of the week. So i have to spend 6 weeks in a hard neck brace and then a couple of months in a soft brace. Eventually i'll heal nicely, but i can't get back into a race car for 3 months :gasp:. Therefore, i have NOTHING to do, which is annoying. Before alot of my time was taken up with training for my racing but as i heal i cant do any of that. Due to the above paragraph, if you decided to read it:lol:, i thought, this project has dragged on for waaaayyy too long, and i am going to drive this car when i get out of my hard neck brace. So last night i dished out some serious coin to get this show finally rolling. So this is what is currently in tansit to my place:party:: Parallel harness Liposack OFNA 12v power supply Hyperion 0610i DUO lipo charger Spektrum DX3R radio system 2x RCM pinions 2x Neu Energy 5000mah 25c 5s packs 2x Hyperion balancer adaptor leads I also have Mike making me some custom length dogbones and ordering me a MGM 28025 Z-series controller with all the programming cables. I've now decided to run 5s instead of 6s, and run parallel packs to cope with the amp draw of the motor and hopefully increase runtime. 5s will run the motor around 42,000 rpm which should be really sweet. If i decide i want to try 6s im looking at getting 2x 6s 4800mah Zippy-R lipo packs, for that price id be stupid not to, but thats for later. Hope you like the update, the end is in sight :diablo: jordan |
WOOOTTT!
Very good move to run 5s, IMO. |
With 10,000mah you should have about 10min runtime.
|
The body adds to the drop dead gorgeous truck. Great work!:surprised:
|
Thanks guys! 10 mins of runtime, i'd be happy to get through the first 10 mins without breaking something, im pretty nervous about that
Well i recieved all of my goodies. Unfortunately the power supply takes 110v input but in Australia its 240v, stupid me . I just bought another one from an electronics store which is actually better than the OFNA one, and was cheaper:intello:. Here are the pics: DX3R: http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...x/DSC01233.jpg Lipos: http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...x/DSC01234.jpg Charger: http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...x/DSC01236.jpg Harness: http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...x/DSC01238.jpg On the truck! http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...x/DSC01240.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...x/DSC01242.jpg Now all im waiting on is an MGM and the centre drives from Mike. Also little things like an antenna mount, and a truckload of Gmxx cross straps, because as you can see the Gmaxx battery straps hardly get over the batteries! Not long now!! Jordan |
Look at this instead of the Gorillamaxx cross straps... I just bought 2 cross straps and not impressed - You can buy the same at radio shack for $4 for 5.
This is much better http://www.mcmaster.com/itm/find.ASP...tring=94905K42 |
:great:
MEEZZZZ. Jealouzs. :mdr: Also love how the body matches the radio. |
Oh, you should also buy a series harness incase some douchebag nitro guy comes walkin up, with his t-maxx pro .15!
|
Looking Good.
Love the new toys. I have a DX3R coming as well:yipi:, and I am thinking about getting one of the 0610i Duo chargers as well. Let us know how everything works out for you. From what I read about teh gear you bought I think you will be pleased. Nice vehicle as well:intello:. good job on the build.

I was thinking along those lines, there might be some excess wire hanging around from the ESC because its so close to the motor, but should be able to tie that up. I was thinking of just velcroe strapping it to the monoblock  When i get it i should be able to make some plans, i dont know the actual size of the ESC yet
If all fails i might mount it ontop of the motor somehow... |
