So did you run the 5000mah pack in the Ten-T? or just the Revo?
these are 2 different trucks with different power requirements. |
Looks great Moller
So is anyone having troubles with the spur? Just wondering how it's holding up? I just bought a roller with Mike's kit installed and the spur that was on there was pretty messed up (missing teeth, etc.) He included a new one. Gear mesh was probably not set right, but was just wondering.
The Delrin Mike uses for the spur is hella-strong and durable, so as long as the mesh is set right, you will never have to worry about it. plus, you can dye it any color.
Did you happen to buy the roller with 17mm adapters with black rimmed buggy wheel?...if you did it was mine...i stripped my spur gear because the top set screw holding the motor down kept backing out...either I need to put locktite on the screw or the motor was waaay to big/heavy. Anyways, the gear mesh would get messed up everytime the motor moved...I ran it with mmm/2200k combo on 4s and it was almost too much.

I can attest to the durability of the spur. My top screw loosened and I heard that horrible, unmistakable sound of skipping gears. Fearing I had stripped at least the tops of the spur teeth, I was amazed to find almost no damage. Still running with that same spur. Not saying everyone would be so lucky, but that's pretty tough for nylon or whatever material Mike used.
Mike did include a knurled washer (can't remember the exact term), but it can still loosen if not torqued right, but that's nothing a little blue lock tite can't fix. |
i got mine to work again:) Just need a new esc to reciver plug... was at my grandad's field an it can just FLY :D runnig a 21/52 gearing can make the nitro guys wet their pants:P
I have chosen to remove 1 4s lipo, so its lighter and better for the cell's when my charger is worse than crap.:( |
Argh was just out driving. walked abit less than i mile, and the the motor was loose:@ so had to walk all the way back to tighten a screw:@
LocTite!!!!
Haha Naah
Argh F*** New problem, the 2 ball bearings in the center diff are pretty dead:(
When it comes to ball-bearings, there are only two options...
[1] If you need great bearings and don't have a lot of cash to spend, Avid RC Bearings are the ONLY way to go! Each bearing is only $1, and they are the best non-ceramic bearings money can buy. You have three types to choose from; Halo dual metal-shielded, Halo dual rubber-shielded, and Revolutions one side metal-shielded & one side rubber-shielded. Personally, the Revolutions are the best way to go, as they give you the super-low friction of metal-shields as well as the super-great sealing of rubber shields. When using Revolutions, you put the rubber-shields toward the outside to repel dirt and grime, while the metal-shields are inside where they are not exposed to anything...they are the perfect bearings! [2] If you want the best bearings available, and aren't restricted by a tight budget, Acer Racing Ceramic Bearings are the ONLY way to go! You can buy the bearings in complete kits for almost any vehicle, or you can buy the bearings individually. I personally run Acer Racing Ceramic Bearings in all of my RC vehicles, and even use them in a few non-RC applications. |
Thanks:D Got a friend to pick some traxxas bearings up for me, cause i need them before sunday... but will take a look at the links:D
Thanks:D everyone here is so kind Found out why the bearing was smashed... the hole in the motor mount /center diff mount was too small, so i had to push it very hard in. and took me 1 hour to get it out:oh: |
Just got mine together today. Man it's a nice setup. Mike did a great job with it. Only thing I really modified was the tray. I cut a notch in it for my battery wires so I could lay the battery flat and dremeled a "tunnel" under it to run the wire going from the ESC to the RX. Personal preference there but I think it turned out nice

I just read this whole thread last night. Looks like a awesome little car
But I remember talk about rollers on ebay for cheap. The only ones on there now are for like 225 bucks, were there cheaper ones? |
It seemed like people were making out pretty well by buying the RTR and selling off the nitro stuff and DX3S system. Depends if you want to put up the money and deal with selling the stuff.
So far I've been on the track about five time's. Truggy has been great, I mounted a set of Pro-Line 30 series Bow-Ties to the Losi wheels for this truck and it made it steer so much better. First broken part today though, one of the front cvd's right where the pin fastens it to the axle. Not sure if it's a week point or I tapped a pipe wrong. Bad part is they are $18.99 at A-Main, hopefully it is a one time thing and not a constant ocurence.
I can't wait to get one and convert it to brushless. I am going to install a crazy-powerfull BL system in it and turn it into a rocket-ship, just stupid-fast!
Had my Ten-T out with MMM 2650, 4s 30c 5000 turnigy and 26t pinion... Also mounted a set of badlands on some JC wheels. The truck is simply too fast. The motor, speed control and battery aren't hot, or really all that warm, but the truck flies. I would almost say it's overkill as there's no instance today that I wanted to use all of the top end speed.
I think I just may switch to a much smaller pinion :) |
And dial some speed out with Castlelink.......
You can't really reduce the speed with the CastleLink. You can control the punch, and adjust the throttle curve, but that just changes the way it gets up to speed, the top speed will remain the same. The only way to truly reduce speed is to drop the gearing down, use a lower kv motor, or reduce the voltage. I guess you could adjust the endpoint on your radio, but the previously mentioned methods are much better choices.
I would suggest a lower Kv motor. The 1900kv sounds to be the right wind for 4s running.
am i really the only one with the center diff bearings problem? How did your bearing fit in mikes mount?
I have so far broken 1 rim and 4 center diff bearings:@ and abit of the body (not that bad) 95ROLR do you have some pics with the bandlands? And is it the MT or buggy badlands? |
Everything went together smooth when i converted mine. The only thing i have broken so far is a rear plastic hub.Big jumps and cartwheels tend to do that.
kk. so i may have been the only one who almost feels cheated....:(
cheated? why would you feel cheated?
i have been grinding on the motor mount for a very long time and the bearing still doesnt fit. and all the other stuff i complainted about some time ago..
but i might just have been unlucky. I have ordred 2 acer bearings to see if the can live for more than 20min |
Are you using the c/diff that the Ten came with and 12/18/4 mm bearings
Yup, is there any upgrade or anything of the center diff?:/
Not that i am aware of. post a picture of the problem you are experiencing.
ok:( i took it all apart today, but will take a pic when its assembled again...
Does anyone else strip the strews that hold the spur? i have been thru 4 and the next 4 is mounted, but they are all striped:( |
There is 30 pages, I would love to read it all to find my answer but simply don't wish to. Is anyone running this truck on 2s? Or is it too heavy and in need of a bigger application?
