Stock gears are 32 pitch. 68t spur is stock, 65t and 63t are optional, but the 63t won't work without a big pinion due to the motor hitting the trans. Nitro Revo spurs will bolt on the stock slipper and are Mod 1. But the biggest is 40t and I'm pretty sure that's way too small to use. I'm sure there are other mod 1 gears you could use, but I'm not aware of any myself.

Edit: just realize you only needed to know what "pitch pinion" not what pinion size.

cmac 01.12.2012 09:54 AM

Does anyone know what the largest tooth (32p) pinion gear available is ?

coolhandcountry 01.12.2012 10:23 AM

If I remember right, I have seen some in the 28 tooth count.
If you message Mike, I think he maybe able to make you a custome one.

JERRY2KONE 01.12.2012 11:01 AM

Big

I have a few bigger ones that I picked up a while ago from Dan at Kershaw Designs. If RCM does not have what you need in his store or on hand KD has a pretty good selection on hand in various materials (derlin, stainless, bronze) and sizes (both bore and tooth size).

RC-Monster Mike 01.12.2012 11:26 AM

26t is the largest I carry in mod.8. We go up to 30t in Mod1.

No the shims he suggested were for the pinion not for the side to side end play.you need a 16mm outside buy 14 mm inside at least thats what i measure with my calipers on the FLM ultimate diff combo.

Actually the same shims worked out just fine. Completely got rid of the side to side play.

MAYHEM6969 03.06.2012 06:05 PM

Well i have the FLM ultimate diff combo and i need the 16x14 shims and i cant find them. also my axles keep popping out of the cup when the suspension drops do i need to put those 1/8th scale studs in the diff and use the revo extended cups for that problem?

bdebde 03.06.2012 10:31 PM

HERE are the HB diff shims.

cmac 03.13.2012 12:18 AM

will these gears work in a stock Brushless transmission?
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXSDR0&P=7

JERRY2KONE 03.13.2012 04:22 AM

Revo/t-maxx

Those are Revo and T-Maxx 3.3 version tranny gears. I believe they are for the nitro version, but since I have not owned a Traxxas stock brushless vehicle I do not know if these work on a brushless tranny. I do know that they will not work in the old E-Maxx 3906 tranny.

suicideneil 03.13.2012 09:05 AM

I very much doubt it- the single speed 3908 tranny uses a 33t output gear, vs the 38t & 43t gears in the nitro tranny. Both have a 13t idler gear, which makes fitting a different sized output gear impossible.

The gears in the 3908 tranny are very strong though, haven't seen anyone strip those yet despite being made of plastic ( top gear and idler are steel, output is plastic ).

Neil you have not seen me drive:lol:

MAYHEM6969 03.13.2012 09:03 PM

Does anyone know what size the setscrews are the ones that hold the suspension pins tight. They are on a FLM bulkheads

cmac 03.27.2012 11:21 AM

Hey guys I just picked one of these up for my work bench. http://www.revolverc.com
Just came in last night. I have only have only had time to put it together, and all I can say is this thing is awesome. I will let you guys know how well it works after I wrench with it awhile.

K1RC 03.27.2012 01:13 PM

Those look so cool, I was seriously considering getting one, definitely let us know how it works :mdr:!

cmac 04.04.2012 11:30 PM

Will these fit in a stock Brushless trasnsmission?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ultramaxxed-...item35bb17670c

JERRY2KONE 04.05.2012 12:57 AM

Ultramaxxed gears.

Not sure if those are truly Ultramaxxed gears. Looking at that picture those look more like RC4WD gears. They tried to copy Ultramaxxed gears, but they were not quite the same high quality. Anyway they will fit into the original 3906 tranny. The RC4WD gears work fine, but their full set of gears sold for $100 retail. I would question the seller for sure.

I wish that I could shoot him an email to ask if he knows for sure what gears these are, but I have not had an EBay account for quite some time(too much hassles and hacker). Looking at the title of the sale he is not sure ether. He lists Unlimited Engineering SuperMaxx, TMaxx, EMaxx, & GorillaMaxx. These gears were made specifically for the 3906 EMaxx tranny, and will not fit into a TMaxx tranny or any other version of the EMaxx tranny's. Honestly looking closer at his picture those do not look like Ultramaxxed gears. I have both, plus a set of titanium gears, and they all have their own atributes that distinguishes who made them. I could be wrong, but you posted up in here looking for info. I would not purchase them without clarifying details on how he is identifying these gears.

_paralyzed_ 04.05.2012 04:16 AM

Aren't you using a 3908 tranny? As neil said above, they don't break, so nobody has made stronger gears for them.

You will break diffs, driveshafts or strip wheel hexes before you break a 3908 tranny, no matter how hard you bash.

No, those are only for the old 3906 transmission ( y u no read my emaxx faq? ), they will not fir the newer emaxx transmission ( you don't need them anyway as the new tranny is much more durable ).

----

The brass idlers are a trademark of real Ultramaxxed gears though- I have the RC4WD aluminium gear set and they only sold them with aluminium idlers, so chances are the ones on ebay are the read-deal- my only thought being that Ultramaxxed gears were Titanium I thought, rather than aluminium, but anything is better than the plastic gears in the 3906 tranny. Why he has a spare 1st gear output and shift-dog is another question though....

Chadworkz 04.05.2012 12:36 PM

I actually had those exact gears he has on eBay, plus a couple other non-Ultramaxxed gears, as well as a couple real Ultramaxxed gears...I even had those full titanium gears you have at one time (man they are heavy, but they are a high-steel Ti), but I traded them all off for other parts that I needed. The ones he has are NOT real Ultramaxxed gears, and they aren't the RC4WD gears either, they are just copies that someone made a while back. The ones he has are 5052-T4 Aluminum & Standard Fitting Brass.

cmac 04.05.2012 05:25 PM

Guys thanks for all the feedback!!! I just bought a RD Logic aluminum tranny case and wanted to put the best gears I could get in there. I guess I just put the new gears from my back-up 3908 transmission. So my question is were the Ultramaxx transmission and gears were for the 3906 Emaxx?

Chadworkz 04.05.2012 06:21 PM

Yes, the Ultramaxxed Gear-Sets were only made for the original E-Maxx Transmission.

cmac 08.09.2014 02:39 PM

Hello,
guys it's has been a very long time since I have messed around with my RC stuff!!! I still have everything and went to check the condition of all my Lipos and as I expected they all went puff!!! I'm sure that there is nothing that can save those batteries! I had all Gens Ace batteries 4 3s and 1 6s and a few 2s batteries. Is there anything better that has come along that is still on the "value" end of the price spectrum? just looking to get things up and running again its been too long!!!
Thanks,
Mike.

JERRY2KONE 08.09.2014 11:26 PM

Wow

WOW two years since your last post on here. Good to see guys showing back up in the hobby from time to time. The Gens Ace Li-Po's are some of the best out there (still). There is a bit more of a variety to choose from, and the prices have come down a little bit, but not much has changed in two years time. Welcome back to the hobby Mike.

cmac 08.10.2014 12:06 AM

Hey Jerry,
Good to know that you are still around here!!! Yes it has been a while! I left this hobby for an even more expensive one Firearms!!! Ever since this administration has threatened us with taking our weapons away my wife was a little more understanding with my purchases!!! I have really wanted to get my trucks up and running for a little while now!!! I have checked back in from time to time and it seems that things are the same around here!!! I hope Neil is still around!!!

suicideneil 08.10.2014 02:08 PM

I can confirm or deny nothing...

JERRY2KONE 08.10.2014 07:03 PM

Priorities, right?

yea I have seen a few guys kind of disappear from the hobby and mostly for firearms. Lincpimp (James) was another one. I have not had much time myself, but my reasoning is because we have been moving from Prague to Virginia, and of course spent about five weeks vacationing across the USA. Now we are trying to get things setup in our new house, and our personal shipments have not even arrived yet. The new garage is unfinished, so I am working on doing all of that before our stuff gets here as well. Painting walls and ceiling, painting the floor, installing lighting, and a ceiling fan, and lastly a flat panel TV so I can keep up with sports when I finally do get to spend some time in there working on my R/C stuff.

cmac 08.11.2014 05:31 AM

There is never enough time to do all the things we need to do!!! Congrats on making it back state side, and for your new home!!! I hope all goes well!!!

I hate to tell you this Jerry but you are my neighbor now.
Welcome back state side too.

lincpimp 08.12.2014 09:18 AM

Jerry, good to hear you are back in the country!

Neil still exists, I am happy.

I am redoing my workshop and I will be making a workspace dedicated to rc. I have a few to finish...

Dafni 08.12.2014 09:45 AM

I'm kinda back in the loop too. Settled into a new house after some crazy rollercoaster times... feels like it's time for some RC again.

Good to see some of the old heads still around.

cmac 01.02.2020 01:49 PM

Hello all, I know it’s been a very long time! I just dusted off a few of my RC’s since buying my now 12 year old a Traxxas 1/16 Revo (VXL brushless). All my old batteries are puffed so I have been looking to buy some new Lipo’s. I just realized that Traxxas has stopped selling their soldered connectors! What are my options? Just bought a Lipo for my son’s Revo (non Traxxas battery). Am I stuck having to buy just Traxxas batteries or is there a reliable alternative soldered connector?
Thanks in advance,
Mike.

ruudxd 01.03.2020 02:12 PM

Do you want to keep using the Traxxas connectors?
There are imitations on the market for them.
You could go for XT60 or Castle plugs, polarized or not.
I think I will invest in some Castle polarized plugs in the future.

cmac 01.03.2020 02:27 PM

I think that I want to Stick with the Traxxas connectors because that’s what I have on all my RC’s.

ruudxd 01.08.2020 05:12 PM

If you want original Traxxas ones I think Ebay may be your best chance?
There are loads of aftermarket ones, I do not think you will notice much difference in normal loads?

cmac 01.08.2020 07:47 PM

Yes. I just bought some knock-offs. Just wasn’t sure if they were worth my time. What do most people use nowadays? I’m going with “Traxxas connectors because that is what I have on all my cars. Thanks for the reply!
Mike.

cmac 01.20.2020 11:38 AM

Alright, I just soldered knock off Traxxas connectors on 5 brand new lipos. I forgot how much I hate those. I honestly think I’m ready to convert to another connector. What are the best options? I want something that is reliable and easy to solder pros and cons of each.
Thanks in advance,
Mike.

suicideneil 01.21.2020 10:10 PM

These days, pretty much everyone & their uncle is running XT60 connectors- they are basically bullet connectors in a plastic molding ( kinda like EC5 connectors, only you don't have to assemble them ). Most good retailers should carry them, though check hobbyking and the larger stores first- avoid the cheap ones on ebay as they tend to use cheaper plastic that melts when you solder them ( like Deans connectors... ugh... ).
