Those stickers are indeed sweet! You did a great job Chad! Thank you again for the smooth transaction. My Maxxes are a ton of fun!
|
I am thinking about building an FLM E-Maxx myself! May need to ask you A LOT of questions, heh!
|
Don't be so generous, I'm sure you could do just as good or better! And I had lots of help from Popoxx and Mark(mkrusdc) as far as the FLM goes.
My racer(and still main beater) got all the super goodies so my FLM truck now is a buddy truck and is not as stellar as it once was. |
Silly nitros but still let me know what you think. I race there again soon. As soon as I can find an AMB transponder. Does anyone have one they'd like to sell to me?http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_100_1852.jpg
I've got some picks and videos coming up so stay tune. Next Vid: Skate park/BMX! Thanks, Zack |

They might look bent but its just where the rod ends settled after the first run months ago. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1899.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1898.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1897.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1896.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1894.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1893.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1891.jpg ... more pics to come! |

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1883.jpg When I first saw after running a long way over to the truck I thought to myself WHAT DID THE TRUCK GET WRAPPED UP IN!!? I thought I ran over a bag! It was a long way away when it happend and the pinion coming off is what did stopped it. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1885.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1889.jpg Thats a big foam! Much bigger than I remembered. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1888.jpg I think they got wet some how and that ruined the tape job. The damage soon insued. |
Always amazes me how foams & tyres tend to get ejected inwards rather than outward... usually.
|

I need a video editor program sooo bad. Somebody reccomend a good one and I'll spend whatever. Oh yeah and what do you think? The pinion came off as I was getting more daring. This beautiful truck makes single well landed back flip a piece of cake, I was about to put it way out there and try some doubles. Front flips are tramatic, it does rotate and mutates! When you get on the brakes it goes into a mad triple sideways front flip mutation! By shear luck would I land it. I'm going to try it thursday! lol |
The truck is looking strong Zack... loving those back flips...
|
Thanx Alien! Me and the dadster cut the CF with his water pumping tile saw. Like butter and waiter please hold the fray! This stuff from FFRC is saweet.
|
Sweet!!
|
I'm nervous about the shock towers! Its the holes! How will I ever get that right?
|
Have a look at this Zack 'CF parts (vid)'... one of the simplest and neatest tricks for cutting carbon...
|
Yeah that how I'll do it. I'm buying some very short Nova towers from Chad then I'm going to bolt and space them together to the CF then let the dremel do the rest just like MisterCrash showed us! Great. Oh and of course I'll put wing mount holes in.
I am doing a total rebuild of the truck and I went to open my CCNeu for the first time to inspect the bearing and I found this stuff on the ends of the rotor. Umm look...VVV what is it? Its good right? http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...100_1926-1.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1931.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1930.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1924.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1932.jpg Here is what it replaced. Novak HVMAXX rotor. Its solid. Temps are always under 150. Its been a great performer for a year and a half. Running it at least twice a every week with the exception of a few months where I was really busy or away. It pushes this truck around like a rag doll of course, no surprise. It is the motor of choice since its apperance. Also how do I remove the bearing on the pinion side? |
Zack, I will get those towers out tomorrow...
What exactly are you going to be doing with them, and carbon-fiber...I am confused? Are the UE towers too tall or something? |
PM explain about the CF of course.
Guys, what diffs will fit in between these GS Storm diff braces? |
Pretty much all of them...the GS Storm diffs are "full-size", as it were, where diffs like the Kyosho and Hot Bodies diffs are "small". If you want to run one of the smaller diffs, all you have to do is shim it to fit.
|
That stuff on the rotor looks like epoxy, its just used to balance it to prevent vibrations ( like wheel balancing ).
If you unscrew the front of the motor, you should be able to just tap out the pinion ( may be glued in place ). |

UE Titanium! I'll never run out of these, got them all for $35 shipped from a great member on UE. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1936.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1935.jpg Just kinda missing around... I'll probably never run this way. Its a neat concept though. The Ultralites will go back in this week! I think I now know what broke the unbreakable 8 spider diffs... I'll post up later this week or next. -Zack |
...score!!
|
Zack, you beat me to that hingepin lot. I was drooling all over them but waited too long to pull the trigger...
|
The thing is, you won't ever *need* any of them, because the ones you are running will never bend or break! :)
|
I've bent and broken titanium hingepins before... Broke the UE Widetrac arm it was holdin on too... Damn grindrails at the skate park!
|
Were the Ti Hingepins you bent UE Ti Hingepins? I swear that, even though Lunsford & UE both use 6AL-4V Titanium, for some reason the UE Ti Hingepins are just stronger and more durable than the Lunsfords, or any other brand...it's weird, but I have experienced it. I have bent and snapped Ti Hingepins from Lunsford, Hardcore, & GPM, but have never even bent a UE Ti Hingepin...and like you did, I broke the end off of a UE Racer-X Front Lower A-Arm (where the hingepin goes through) during a hard crash, but the UE Ti Hingepin was still perfectly straight!
UE Ti Hingepins are Bomb-Proof, heh! |
You could use that concept if you used the shorter hingepin with the E-clips you would want to run some spacers so you dont get lateral movement, but it is a good concept. Is the pivot ball just threaded into the Turnbuckle?
Did you ever blow those 3906 diffs?? |
I like this idea & style, but I would want a smoother, cleaner looking arm...like the Dace Mfg. upper arm, but with a camber-adjuster built into it like the pics below...
http://raymonium.com/Business/eBay/C...leUpperArm.jpg http://raymonium.com/Business/eBay/C...%29%5Bg%5D.jpg These are the Dace arms (on the left)... http://pics.offroadextremes.com/rc/ue/dace_stuff1.jpg This looks cool as well... http://www.johnshobbyworld.com/ebay/...cs/EMX-050.jpg |
Yep those are pretty cool. I have the truck back together after the huge rebuild. Its great. All new Avid bearing. Finally all of Jacob's Proline Powerstrokes are on. I plan to bash them 2day or 2moro but regardless at the end of the week I'm going to probably empty them and add some 60wt oil. I haven't figured out how I'm going to clean them completely any suggestions? I can't remember how I've done this in the past. I got my arms and bracing done, made a new CD top plate out of FullForce CF, switched completely to a one battery setup with my 4s Hyperion next month I'll order a 6500 4s pack so I can run 25 minute mains, and moved my ESC and cleaned up the wiring a bit.
Jacob, the diffs where doing great! Infact I opened the rear one up just to peak and it was missing a tooth but running fine. I finally got my UE 8spider diffs fixed so I'll take them out at the end of the week and put the UE Ultralites back in. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1948.jpg I also filled the GS storm CD with 30k. I don't know what was in it. Remaining victory points: -VTR Calibers -7075 aluminum opposite motor mount CD bulk, its plastic now. -35c Hyperion 4s 6500mah -My own custom lower profile towers -CF steering rx tray/deck/plate, its aluminum now. -Another body just like the one I have now. -Alittle more camber and some other tuning to do. -Would be cool to have a Slipperential one day. Is this a good place to keep my extra rotor? http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1949.jpg Thanks, Zack |
THe CD had 10k in it, as far as cleaning the shocks I use an air compressor and a 2" paint brush with the bristles cut down so they are stiffer. I cant believe those diffs held out that long, I put them in there originally just to get her going and use it. After a few packs they were still together so i said screw it and left them in.
On another note I finally did some damage to my RC8Te. I bent the front d/s dirveshaft/CVD, big jump lol..... Only took 4 months of bashing to finally break something. I love 1/8!!!! |
I clean my shocks with an old toothbrush, soap (Dawn) & water, and twisting a soapy wet paper towel down inside the shock body to get out the gunk/oil in the very bottom.
|
Thanks guys. Yep it has cost me a pretty penny and alot of hard work and research but I've finally got my Maxx up to 1/8th scale specs.
Its soo bad. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1952.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1954.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1956.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1957.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1958.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1959.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1960.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1961.jpg The battery still seems fine. No puffing, no heat, good voltage even underload. What to do? |
IS that in your garden or a public park? I'd find/ make some U shaped pegs and nail that crap to the ground, or move it somewhere safer.
Is the silver foil on the cell damaged or ripped at all, or just the blue shrink? |
Its a drag for a public BMX track. It smooths and grades the bumps out when being dragged by a tractor or 4wheeler. It could cut an ankle to the bone. Its quite pernicious. I thought I would be more down about it, but after hearing it and figuring out what happened when I saw it, I was like of course. I got in the truck and called it a day, no screaming or swearing. I was impressed.
Yes, it is quite deep I was afraid the pics would not do it justice. Its into the foil. I expected some kind of sign like some puffing or smoke or flames but these Hyperions are pretty tough. What is the next step? It really want(ed) to run it I've done alot to. It was an experimental run, the first time for some mods. For instance all 8 Power Stroke's maiden voyage. Please tell me I can run it! lol |
I just checked voltage, I got 4.05, 4.05, 4.04, 2.35. Not good. You guys are going to tell me to make a 3s pack, aren't you? Not good. lol
|
If the damaged cell is reading 2.35v... yep, 3s pack time.
I'd avoid running near that thing again, nasty... |
What can I do with a 3s pack? Its not even any good for my buddy truck. LOL suggestions?
|
Sell it (might not get too much, but it's better than not using it at all) and apply the money towards that 4S 6500mah pack you want to get.
|
Simplechamp that sounds like the thing to do. I took the damaged cell out and placed it in a tub of salt water. That was fun, lots of bubbles and what looked to be underwater smoke, yet the water never got warm. This went on for about an hour. To be safe I'll leave it in there for two weeks.
http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1968.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1967.jpg The replacement showed up today. I ordered it a few days ago before any of this happened. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1981.jpg I need a tray. |
Well I ordered a tray. I'll soon be back under way. Its going to be an adventure working with the Duh towers.
http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...WFw1kG-9oNxG0= |
Got killer 16mm HPI Vorza shocks coming to go with the shorty towers.
Hopefully it will work if not I'll make it work with some carbon fiber on the arms. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...kl-HHUg_12.jpg I'm getting the whole center bulk, both braces front and rear in aluminium now. before the rear one has been plastic. It should sure up the truck. I have loved this build. |
