I sure hope you get the travel you wanted... Those look pretty short. like 8b fronts... Not much travel, let alone for a buggy... I hope I am wrong, Pics Asap,
If its not too late; My suggestion would be to get the rear "Vorza" shocks and make brackets: A La G-Maxx Style: or Custom Al: (or CF as you suggested) Click^^ But lay them down more apparently... But if you find they are too short or something, You can have the mount in the pic to test and have all four if they work... I wont be using them anymore... Edit: those are FLm arms Good shot: http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...v/100_4086.jpg |
Cool. We will see. Are you guys familiar with the Duh shorty towers?
I still should be able to set it up for track running when running the duh towers. You know with the shafts barely setting above level sloping down towards the knuckle? |

Good news! I humbly submit that my truck looks soo awesome with the duh towers on it. lol It looks more and more like a truggy. Just like I had hoped my UE knuckleheads and my new Duh towers have two holes in common. Both of which allow the truck to bottom out safely without blowing my Power Strokes while using the bottom hole on the arm the truck is really set up well to bash and perform well, especially since it is so LCG anyway set up like a truggy. But the Buggy shocks on their way right at 100 should do perfect so long as they provide enough travel. I don't expect to be able to run my 40 series tires with the shocks. It wouldn't work and would damage the shocks. I'll post pics when I get the Vorza shocks. Thanks zipperbasher. I like what you've done with your truck? You've got your batteries under the FLM chassis right? I had good success with that myself for a while. Never damaged the packs. I think I learned it from Serum. |
I want in my thread to thank River for giving me the oppurtunity to run the fastest towers on the web, being that these are the towers of his choice when he ran how fast? 82MPH? I don't know of a faster Emaxx. lol
THANKS CLICK |

I like the idea of those short towers as well... I bet you can really slam the body down low. I hate when I have the body as low as possible and there is a gap between chassis plate and bottom of the body... |
I was just looking back over some pictures and realized I never posted some of my best pics. So here they are.
http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1878.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1872.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1870.jpg This is what I was using as a battery tray for a long time until that metal poked into my truck and shredded that one cell of my Hyperion. The tray from mike should give more protection. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1977.jpg |
Look with me at THESE springs... what is the deal? Are there just three different spring rates with like 8 colors or do all of the colors represent a different rate? look at that "gf" number. It looks like there are three different gfs. Does that mean three different spring rates that come in all these different colors?
EDIT: actually there are 3 lengths but several different "gf" numbers. |
Here is another old picture of my first ever painted body on the truck with the goofy big 40s Mashers.
http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1793.jpg |
The new shocks are HUGE! They are fatter than my Powerstrokes, and almost as long. lol
Nothing to worry about here. They look great! I have everything I need to get it in the best shape of its life, I think... As long as the holes in the chassis line up with some substance(meat) on the new tray I got from Mike with all the cutouts in the bottom for weight savings which I meant to order without. I'll post pictures this weekend. I should have it all put together late Friday night if all goes according to plan. There is always something to do to these Maxxs. And there always will be, as long as new technology comes out. |
Pics?
|
I'm afraid that will have to wait til Friday night or Saturday afternoon. Its going to be great though. I hope my batteries have been okay all this time. I stored them right. They have been stored for about 4 months really.

I Love Pepsi!

I Love Remo !

I Love Jebus!

Hey Kcaz, did you ever test fit those LST2 Sway bars? Was thinking of getting some to try... And Lets see those shocks Mounted!
|
Oh right. No I haven't. I've been meaning to but Just haven't had the time. I'm alittle afraid to use them because the clamps. They are plastic and if you tighten them down on the tower too much like the tower would want then you crack the plastic cramp. I need to find some metal clamps.
I had to order one more part and school work is soo busy. I should be RTR with pics by this weekend. Quote:

I'll buy the spring kit for it. I've got thick oil for them. I'm thinking 60,000 What are the thoughts on the battery tray location? I can move it up a good bit more. I'm going to cut that tab off in the back. The tray is the last thing that needs doing. |
Wow... loving the look of the new profile Zack... hmmmmm... will you achieve a good balance with the batt tray there? if so, then maybe it'll be fine...
Alien |
Thanks Alien. I am excited to try it out and enjoy it.
I don't know where else to put it. It is a huge battery. lol Yeah I'm thinking it should provide for a good balance remember the monoblock. |
Looks good! Hows the suspension travel?
|
I really like what you made out of that truck!
But I too have problems imagining that the balance would be too great with the battery so far off center. The mono block isn't going to help with that. I would flip the diff arround, put the ESC behind the motor and place the battery on the side where the motor is at the moment. But then: I haven't seen your truck in action nor have I driven it, so I have no idea if the handling actually is influenced in a bad way by that weight distribution. |
Quote:
I would have to agree only because it looks as though your diff is barely offset to on side. That is the way my 8ight is setup and I think the balance is pretty good... But it looks Great! :yipi: I love that chassis! I really wanted to go that route with my maxx... Got a side shot? I bet the body sits LOOOW with those Towers! |
Oh man! I can't wait to get some video! Tomorrow perhaps. She is bad fast! I mounted the body by cutting slots in the body near(above) the Duh towers and ran Velcro straps through the slots. It works great! And no more clips! Now I just wish I would have done it this way to begin with.
I ran the truck for about 15 mins today and it couldn't have gone much better. Everything works great and the truck turns on a dime. I couldn't make it flip despite every effort. So the battery tray location has no negative effects so far on handling. It will be 3 weeks before I am able to test it mid air. I'll have new springs at that point. |
Sounds good Zack... what's the finale running weight?
|
Sounds good indeed, can't wait for the video.
Were did you get the Duh towers? Are they still available somewhere? I could really use a set of lower shock towers. And what axles and diff outdrives do you use? |
I bolted some plexy angle on the towers and put a strip of good velcro on top and on the bottom of the body in the back seemed to work good.

I am using UE outdrives with TRX shafts. Great combination. Just watch how high you jack the truck especially with RPM TrueTrac. If the dog bone end comes out and can't get back in bad things happen while in motion. :bad: Speaking of bad. I have a problem. I was having a  jolly good run today :intello: when I got the RX where caught in the center diff. I ran into a very far away curb that I thought I could jump and in a rare event the RX wire got caught up in the diff and pulled apart. I'm away at school(and stink at soldering) can I just put the wires strands back together according to color, tape it up and be gentile until I can get my electrician on it around Thanksgiving? Please say yes. Quote:

This is the first time I have used this battery extensively. The battery just took 6600mah!! It took 2 hours to get there and is at 16.8 volts. Its sick! The battery is a 6500 G3 35c Hyperion. Its crazy!
I fixed the RX wires with tape. lol Temporary. The truck is so fast and controllable. I have noticed that when I really get on it while turning away from the battery side the truck gets less turn. So it does have some effect while on the ground. That is all, Zack |
Balance Charged? Could be why it took more mah and 2 hours to charge...
What kind of TX you have? Just set endpoints a bit higher to the shorter throw side.... |
Yeah but I'm not complaining. I was actually pleased. Hyperion batteries are beast. This is the first battery I have ever had to take over the labeled mah.
Its not like that. The weight of the battery is what is causing it. It turns great at all speeds but you can tell it takes alittle longer for the whole truck to change direction because the battery on the one side when going really fast. I may not be making any sense. It really is a mute issue the problem may pronounce its self while in flight though. We'll see. -Zack |

And off course the whole 100MPH story made for some excellent reading:yipi: I want the lower shock towers to get the body lower on the truck, would go with shorter shocks off course. Quote:
Are they regular diff outdrives? Or are they a combination of outdrife shafts and some sort of drive cups? I'm wondering, because I've read several times that the traxxas shafts would be too short for use with the regular 1/8 diff outdrives. But no truetrac for me, still have my flextek arms:yes: |
Yeah. I hope you find some.
I'm using the UE outdrives that are attached inside the diff. Its the small cup 6mm instead of 8mm I think. It fits the Trx shafts no like a glove. What I explained to you is correct. People say it doesn't work because they jack it up and it bends. You get plenty of travel still just be careful. Nice, Flextek. -Zack |
I used traxxas cut stub shafts and the stock cups in the front with the pillowball in a little farther and I used the longer e revo cups in the back with the truetracks. I am not sure if you need to do this with flextek because you can just scew the pb in more.
|
Do you guys know of any mud guards that would fit this Chassis?
Thanks, Zack |
Quote:
Same here... With LST diffs but same concept...The stock Traxxas cups that come with the CVDs are pretty good. I have my suspension jacked almost maxed out and the cvds still sit well within the drive cups... But I do like my Pillowballs screwed in just to about touch the arm when the servo is full throw... |
I allways had the impression the TRX shafts would be too short in combination with regular diff outdrives.
I'll keep this in mind if my plans for the X2 CRT shafts shouldn't work... So, Zack, where is that video? |

A video isn't far off. I ran 6600mah out today. Zero Hiccups. I Alot of fun. I have the best places to run. Its like an RC Paradise. Lots of wide open 45MPH runs. The highest temperature I recorded was 139F on the motor. The ESC never got higher than 89F. The battery topped at 86F. My servo hit 84F though. I've never been happier with the truck. I've put alot of work into it. |
