The motor temps were lower, though they were hardly 'hot' in the first place. It could have also had something to do with the 46/17 gearing on there, which was better geared than with a 42/15.

Today I received my ESC back .... they repaired my brand new RX8 instead of sending me a new one and opened the case of the ESC so unprofessionally that anybody could realize that it was repaired ....
Fine ... so I cannot sell this ESC as new on ebay . Maybe I will try it out myself so that I can damage my motor (1700 truggy style) also. Then I have to wait another month for the replacement.

Here are some pictures of my "new" ESC - (I ran it for only some seconds - before it was "repaired")

We will often repair the speedo if that's all it requires. However the case shouldn't have been cracked like that. It might have been missed which is unfortunate.

Please email me your shipping address and I'll see about getting you a new case set: Rpike@teamtekin.com

I sent you an email already ... but it is very disappointing ...

Like Randy said. Repairing isnt the end of the world. If a repair is whats needed then why replace the whole unit.

As for the case- tekin will take care of you..

Just checked tracking on mine- its waiting in my mailbox :)

No - they donīt have to replace the whole unit but they have to do professional work ... Please keep in mind that I spend over 300$ for the combo and drove the whole set for only a minute.
If they send me a new case I have to do their work ... If I
break something it is my fault and warranty is lost. And of course I will have to wait another two weeks for the parcel - because they send it with standard mail to germany. (I received my last order from amainhobbies in just two days !(with UPS Express)

Sounds much better than the experience I had with my Monster ESC.
I got treated worse and it took longer, and I am not even overseas. Mine did last 20 minutes or so, versus Topas's 1 minute.
Sorry Topas if you feel like you got treated badly. But I dont think you want the MMM. They wouldnt even send me a case or fan because of their "rules". Id have to send it back in and wait another 6 to 6 1/2 weeks for them to repair it!
I woud definately buy a Tekin RX8 over a MMM anytime, anyday!
Again just my .02 cents.

Got my rotor in the mail yesterday for my buggy motor. I'll take the time this week end to put it in.
I have 2 MMM esc, and the only reason I have 2 is because the first one I bought went poof within 5 min of test driving and I had been waiting a month to get my replacement back from Castle. About 2 weeks after buying my 2nd MMM, I received my warranty replaced ESC from Castle.
Both ESC's are still going strong, but the fans are what keeps breaking now. 2 or 3 race days and I need a new fan. Not a new case/fan for $12 + shipping. Just a fan, that should cost $3 at the rate I'm having to replace them.

So how are the new rotors holding up? Any failures as of yet?

I'm really thinking about getting a T8 motor.

TekinTeamMgr 12.06.2009 01:41 PM

Haven't seen any of the latest rotors fail. Nobody at the recent ROAR champs had a failure.

shawzie 12.06.2009 03:02 PM

How are the upgrades to the ESC's doing.Any returns of the new boards?

TekinTeamMgr 12.06.2009 06:23 PM

No, so far the new boards are holding steady.
