I am really getting tired of being stuck behind boats on the road. People do not seem to understand they are not designed for terra firma. I look at the water, hmm where are the boats?

Oh that's right, they're ON THE ROAD. IN MY WAY.

Once again idiots, they are WATER VEHICLESSSSS....... NOT another clever devious way of slowing the rest of the working world down....... I'll stop there before I get going about RVs

Today i found that my kia sportage has a 5th gear... it only shifts into 5th at 90mph and Wot.. that was a new one for me

_paralyzed_ 07.15.2009 09:59 PM

if thats the case you may wanna check your tranny fluid (can never tell when these kids are joking)

zeropointbug 07.15.2009 10:23 PM

Yes, check 'something'.... pretty sure it should shift into 5th in normal driving.

around 3200rpm. relatively low.

riverat1540 07.15.2009 10:45 PM

id say u should be at least 2500 seems high to me alot of trans places do free inspectons i think it would be worth checking out bun the again if u had it floored it may have just shifted to the last gear bur under normal driving it should be hitting the last gear at at least 35-40

riverat1540 07.15.2009 11:02 PM

maybe u miss-counted the shifts is my best answer the more i think of it

holy crap id hate to have to send mail there

I usually take 5th in my Mustang at around 120  5th gear is too tall though, really drops you out of the powerband and it takes a bit of effort to get it to the governor (135, damned thing). It's got an insane powerband compared to a european or japanese car but at that speed a 2 ton car geared for highway cruising needs more beans than it's got. 6 speed and a built up engine will come when I get the $$$$.

riverat1540 07.15.2009 11:16 PM

ive had my jeep cherokee 4.0 up to 130mph then the govner kicked in. also a 5speed but manual took forever to get there but wil spank a 6cyl 5sp mustang

Unsullied_Spy 07.15.2009 11:18 PM

Jeeps can really move, I had a '94 Cherokee with the High Output 4.0 (not sure what's different with the hipo one) and a 5 speed and it hit 60 in 7 seconds in 4wd on ice and it would push the needle around to 0 (85 MPH speedo) in a VERY respectable time for an SUV but it was very unstable.

riverat1540 07.15.2009 11:25 PM

yea my speedo ends at 100 but ive had the needle strait down which has to me about 130 just by judging the distance on the speedo.but gets up to 100 pretty quik for a 6 cyl can get about 60 in second and 90 in third

Unsullied_Spy 07.15.2009 11:28 PM

The speedo in my Protege goes to 140, at the rev limiter in 5th gear it's around 145. No governors FTW!
