I only meant that, unless the cells are perfectly balanced. It will always show a bit mor Mah going in on the charger than the actual battery is sucking in... Ex. I charged my battery yesterday. It wasnt balanced perfect when charging ended. So I let it totally balance out. and threw it back on the charger. The battery took in 560mah more...
Think about it like this: Say the charger is charging at 5amps. While the Balancer is working at ~650mah to balance the cells. So after an hour if the charger displays says it put in 5000mah, in reality it only put closer to ~4350mah... Thats what I meant earlier. I am glad to hear that is took a beating and kept ticking! Thats what it is all about! |
Ah. I see. When I get more springs I'll be done.

This is an old pic
http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_1789.jpg I'm thinking about cutting the rear New Era Titanium skid plate down to the bulk to shave weight. What do you think? Since the wing is there it really can't serve much of a purpose. Without the wing it is necessary with the wing it is just dead weight. I'll always have a wing. I think New Era still has this rear plate. Cut it or not? |
Did you ever bent one of those Fastlane A-Arms?
Vic |
Not yet. It really hard to. I had a pretty bad landing about 3 months ago on the right front wheel the only damage was one broke off pivot ball and a warped TRX carrier. No damage to the arm.
So what do you guys think should I cut the rear skid down/off? |
Is it really going to save that much weight?
I'd probably leave it as is if it doesn't influence handling too much in a bad way. edit: It says out of stock on the new era website. If this is true I would definately leave the skid plate as is. |
Maybe you are right. I'll think about it. A shame to hear about New Era. At least ebay has tons of titanium skids.
|
Don't cut it.
Nice truck Zack. |
Ok I won't.
Thanks Lito. |
Your truck has gone a long way. I wasn't able to see pictures until our ship returned last week because Photobucket is not accessible through a gov't computer.
I need to charge my lipos so I can run my trucks tomorrow. It's been over 6 months since I ran them. This deployment is cutting into my hobby time :). |
Yeah. Get em going! God bless you man.
I'm thinking about getting rear RacerX with the big UE cvds. non Setback version. What do you think? RPM is just too flexy and lets the cvds bend as they pop out. Are the 16mm ones necessary over the 15mm? |
15 or 16mm will work just the same. There's not much difference strength-wise between the 8x16x5mm against the 6x15x5mm bearings. I'd rather install a pair of setback arms in order to give an additional 22mm of length. It will be more stable and less prone to wheelies and flips.
I have both 15 and 16mm versions of racerx and I can't able tell the difference. Edit: 16mm racerx is required if you're going to use the 8mm cvds unless you have a readysource of 8x15x5mm bearings. |
My truck is already so long. Its longer than a monoblocked lightning. Its longer than a 8T 2.0! Setbacks look heavy. They way I have it set up now, I can't do mad wheelies unless I'm on pavement. It just slings dirt on dirt. lol. With that in mind Setbacks look kinda heavy and MM says high grade bulks only and I want to keep it light-"ish" so no GARC for me yet, the FLM have proved themselves.
What do you think about these parts? CLICK |
Don't buy from that guy. He is the same person Beau dealt with before for not paying the stuff he bid on ebay. He tried to trade parts with me at the beginning of this year but I was skeptical so I didn't deal with him. Check this out: askursha

Yup. UE's bst and ebay are your best bet.

Did I hear Ti skids?? (yeah I am back) I was putting my Maxx back together after almost a year of nothing and I still need a Ti skid for the front. Anybody know where to get one?
And hey to Zack Lito and everybody else. Mark |

I'm building a buddy truck with my left over parts basically it will look like this, but have stock plastic bulkheads and will be powered by a TRX 750 titan, a TRX maxx esc blue colored. lol. and 2X7.4v lipo.
My question is this. I've already got plastic bulkheads should I spend another 60 and get FLM? http://c0456141.cdn.cloudfiles.racks...ra/tra5675.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0482.jpg Quote:
Hey man as I have said recently its good to have you back. |
What bearings and diff will fit this? I'm worried that with all the runtime I've put on the diff and bearings that something is going to eventually need replacing. I suppose I should oil the bearings. This this diff is fairly old and no longer supported I should probably move on to a newer diff. Any ideas? It needs to be a long enough diff with the right bearings right?
CLICK Thanks, Zack |
I would guess any regular 1/8 diff will fit really, the majority are the same dimensions essentially, just different teeth counts & spur designs ( teeth count is the important factor, and getting spares ofcourse ). Not sure about bearings, but I'd bet they are probably pretty common- the ID will be 5mm most likely, you can check the thickness and OD with some calipers, but I doubt it will be hard to find something suitable- loads of bearing retailers around..
|
8 x 16 x 5mm bearings fit the GS motor mount. If I were you, I'll just buy some replacement bearings from Avid. They're only $1 apiece.
Ofna CD will fit that mount. I test fitted them before using the GS storm buggy given by Shawn a few years ago. |
|
It's not worth the money spent on it.
If I were you, I'd buy this instead: http://cgi.ebay.com/Ofna-Hyper-7-Com...item4aa7583f3e |
I agree with that suggestion... you don't need to spend a whole lot of money on Diffs these days.... good deals on ofna spiders/hobao diffs pop up on ebay quite frequently...
|
Oh yes! That is a sweet deal. Tell me is that an 8gear setup? I have 6gear now and its lasted I don't know how long, I'm like the third owner. Thanks fellas.
|
But but Alien your spider diff looks sooo cool. I guess the question posed to me is: Is "sooo cool" worth 50 bucks? lol
|
The one I posted is a 6 gear diff. As long as they're shimmed properly, they will last long. I still have to break any 6 spider diff I ever had.

What was your first plastic bodied diff? It leaked right?
|
Yes it was... and yes it did... but it was a old used LX one diff... not remotely close to the build quality of the recommended diff...
|
What "Brand" Diff are you using now Zack? Maybe you can just order a Nova-RC Cup like I did....I think it Sooo cool!
Edit:If it is a Storm... Maybe they can use the same cup as another Brand... http://www.novarcproducts.com/diffcups.html |
Okay. I'll order the ofna diff off Ebay. Thanks for the tips guys. It'll be good to get it that cheap. I can't believe how cheap it is. It makes me want to buy two.
Thats right Zippy. I loled at your "sooo cool" Its a storm. I would actually like to have a whole new unit mainly because the storm as far as I know isn't supported and the oil is looking like it is soiled with tiny metal glitter (microscopic gear bits). Its not that its not strong. Its just getting old as in a lot of runtime on it. Good suggestion though. And perhaps one day I'll want Nova on that plastic ofna diff for easy bling. I like your truck BTW. My cousins from Georgia and I are practicing at a track on Saturday. My truck is getting premium treatment right now. Picture time will come. It should be look sick. Expect this event to take place Thursday night. lol The purple fan will be no more. I should mention snoopmaxx and I are promising each other all out bash vids in the coming days so that should be cool as well. -Zack |

Cool stuff Sean.
I discovered something very "duh" today while working on my truck. The battery lies a good bit lower if I turn it on its side because it is such a tall battery. Will it hurt it with all the cell's edges being on the tray? |
Should be fine- lots of guys turn the lipos on edge if they are a little tall or wide to fit the tray. Just make sure they are strapped down properly and pad the tray with foam to remove any slack & stop the lipo sliding back and forth.
|
Zack, my Neu batt is on edge. I have a custom tray from Mike and then use two velcro straps. You have seen my videos, LOL, my battery does not budge.
|
Okay great guys thanks. Looking forward to more from you Mark. I'll post pics as promised this after noon. Should be stellar!
|
Well I didn't clean it up all the way. Its kinda embarrassing and the front skid part of the chassis is bent. It doesn't affect anything but looks. I hit a stump pretty hard. And I still have to shorten some of the wires. The last picture of the servo area is my favorite. How do you like the white Mugen 5 wing(instead of black Mugen 6) and the black fan(instead of Novak purple)? The body isn't secured in the picture but yes I am using velcro, for several months now and I love it. You can be sure I run this truck.
Make sure you notice the sway bars. I still have to finish the rear one. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_2139.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_2141.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_2139.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_2137.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_2136.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_2135.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_2134.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_2133.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_2132.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_2131.jpg |
As you can see its one the lowest profile E-Maxxes ever. Thanks to Rc-Monster for the awesome parts!!
