Yes heavier but minimal balooning...

I used the 40 series crime fighters with cheyenne rims. still have them, but little tread left. And no, they do not balloon all that much at all.

Has anyone tried the new LPR tires from proline, or the Losi ones?

I have been using 40 series Bowties, they are a bit heavy and needed a lot of balancing, but they work great and don't baloon too much.

Well, I just flip the tire inside out, and then measure off (by rolling) how much tape I need. I cut a piece to that length, lay it sticky side up (duh!) on a flat surface. I get the tire aligned with the tape, and slowly roll it down the tape. I aim for about a 1/2" overlap of tape at the end, to not throw the tire off balance (although I admit the bigger tires are less sensitive.) After it's all on, I just roll it back and forth on the same hard surface to make sure everything is bonded. Flip the tire back and there ya go, perfect tire. I've never really deformed a tire doing it this way. Maybe I'm special? :tongue: Kinda doubt it! :lol:

Cool, i will give it a shot. I have the Badlands now, so I want to make sure before i mount them if they need the tape or not.

I tried running the badlands without tape and they ballooned a lot, especially the front tires when running a center diff. I used some strapping tape on them and they are very nice now.

As for 40 series tires ballooning it really depends on the tire just like any other profile. Of the ones that I have tried road rages had fairly minimal ballooning (while they have traction) and mulchers are not bad either thanks to ribbing on the sidewalls, mashers would turn into pizza cutters at high speeds or breaking traction.

I think you will be happy with the badlands for general purpose bashing tires.

Thank you. You just provided me with the exact info I needed. I think I will tape mine. I do a lot of high speed passes, so taping might be in my best interest.
