Thanks for the compliments Shaun, Im having a blast driving this badboy ! been years since ive driven a vehicle with a center diff and this is my 1st electric with one. It weighs 8.4 lbs without lipos and 9.6lbs with 2x 2s,30c,5ah. Thats on a digi bathroom scale though so give or take. As for the lipos, ive only been running them down part way because they were new, they were using 2336 mah for 12 minute runs (whatever that adds up to) but I was stopping checking temps then wot so nothing accurate yet. Top speed is 43.7, im still messing with my new mx3-fhss controller (so many settings) and the esc settings, but its up from 37.6mph yesterday. Try a few more tweaks tomorrow. Cant wait to see your new buggy cruising !
Jay

these were my temps:
17/48 140º max on CC mamba, 136º max on 1515/1y, 102º max 7.4v 30c Neu 5000mah, Ambient 87 º

Do you all think the lipos are too hot ? if I gear it up 1 pinion tooth you think it will get the motor hotter and esc cooler ? or is it the other way around ?

Yeah rip off and then the UPS guy wants an unbeknownst fat check ontop of it for some brokerage fee and import tax. I had a fit on them.... anyway, Ive never tried anything from the guy you listed on ebay but $9 is a deal and it cant be worse than GH ! it looks like all the holes have the right lips on them and stuff. I have some stuff from gh I bought extra to get to the discount, pm me if interested. If posting thats inappropriate let me know mods :whip:

If you use the RC-Monster motor mount does that leave you left over with one Center diff mount? Are they both the same mount?

jayjay283 06.18.2008 06:44 PM

yup just the front, motor mount is integrated into a rear diff mount

jayjay283 06.27.2008 07:21 PM

The brakes are really bad on the 8T-15-1y/MM no matter what the setting I have it at, loud noise that just cant be good for the motor or diffs. I need mechanical brakes ! I know the pros and cons, can always put is back minus a couple holes im going to have to drill. Heres my idea :oh:

old pic but setups the same:
1. use 4 U.E TMaxx Servo mounts 'link' and bite the Tekno brake/steering servo setup
2. Put receiver in the waterproof RX box from my emaxx in the rear behind the battery
4. flip over the esc mount so it faces angled towords the front for a bit more air
5. ordered a brake spacer for the motor from Mike.
should make the wiring alot cleaner keeping most of it in the rear, what do ya think ?

I have a quick video (impatient wife) of the weird braking noise, does anyone know whats up with it ?? This is my 1st electric with a center diff but that just doesnt sound right.

bdebde 06.28.2008 01:42 PM

If you mean the sort of hum when it brakes, that sounds normal.

Arct1k 06.28.2008 01:59 PM

Thats normal - Nothing to worry about

jnev 06.28.2008 05:33 PM

Yep, sounds normal to me too. You will get used to the sound. I thought the same thing as you when I started out in conversions...

DRIFT_BUGGY 06.28.2008 06:14 PM

What is making that noise? Mine does the same thing

jayjay283 06.28.2008 07:47 PM

cool cool, thanks for checking it out guys... was a bit unnerving to me, takes off sounding like a turbine then eeeeeerk when it stops. I was gritting my teeth hoping I wasnt ripping the magnets out of the motor or something.
Have a great weekend
Jay
