Negative? How is pointing out pointless mods negative? What you did offers ZERO benefit, and actually creates a performance hit.

I wouldn't even consider a fan unless my ESC ran 180, I had tried everything to lower it and had no success. I run in Houston (yeah, where the real summer is) and I've not had ANY heat problems EVER running 2S. Putting a fan on a mamba 2S system is just laughable.

I guess if it makes you happy, go for it.

Well I had to put a fan on mine. I ended up buying another brand new one and swapped them out and put the deans connectors on just to see if that may have been a issue. Same thing, up around 200 degrees within minutes with all my settings as low as they go. I put the novak fan on and temps were around 130-140. Ambient temps here were 72 degrees when running. I am running a Tekno Neu, 2s 8k lipos, (4s), 22/58 gearing, CC BEC.

Believe what you want I am a firm believer in cooler electronics work better for longer. You thinking the tiny little fan is going to hurt performance is what is laughable.

Hasn't been to bad here yet this year, but 100dF with 99.9% humidity is not unusal for a St.Louis summer. I probably wouldn't need a pair of fans for a 1/10 2wd ST, but a 3905 Maxx on 4S puts a little more heat in the ESC.

Anyone know what the CFM is on the standard MMM fan?

phatmonk 06.28.2008 10:26 PM

I found a 5v 30x30mm magnetic levitation fan that I have on my MM running 4s with a Neu 1515/1.5d.This fan puts out 4.9 cfm compared to a novak at 2.5cfm.

Where did you buy this fan? pics?

Also a question, I just manage to ARM my MM with 16.5V (5S a123) even with a custom Voltage cutoff :) anyway, do you think I can use the red wire from MM to power the fan (only) and still run 5S A123?

This Sunon fan actually use magnetic levitation to "float" the spinning fan blade in a magnetic field to dramatically reduce friction, wear, and heat; making these fans run cooler, quieter and last longer than conventional fans. Ideal for use in any mission critical application, in applications where minimal fan noise is desired. This is a direct description from the Buyextras.com.This fan puts out double CFM then the Novak 2.5cfm 4.9 cfm compared to the Novak.I run my fan off the receiver and run 4s 14.8 and a CC BEC.I run a neu 15151.5d/f.I run my Brushless 8T in 80 degrees outside temp for 30 minutes and no thermal issues.

Thanks for the Fan info. For the Fan power source I also use the Rx but I was hoping to use the BEC of the ESC since its just a small fan but I guess it will be safer to jsut use the RX to power the fan

tc3_racer_001 07.15.2008 05:22 PM

$15-$20 posted i would get one... and hope it wouldnt break. anything more and i probably wouldnt bother seeing as i can get 5 and 12v fans for $7, sometimes with a cheapo heatsink!

are these available worldwide as ive never seen or heard of them before
