you could go more voltage on that motor. I not sure how much you want to run. I figure you should be albe to run about40 volt on it.

Steve Vasdekis 10.01.2005 10:16 PM

The motor can handle more, but I like to keep it under 38.4 nominal voltage, from a safety standpoint.

coolhandcountry 10.01.2005 10:20 PM

I don't mean to bother you. I just very curious on the motor. Have you ran it in another truck? I curious to the run times you get.

Steve Vasdekis 10.01.2005 10:26 PM

Actually I am boat guy and I have never run this motor in a car, but from what I understand about it, it's used in 1/5 scale onroad cars and they usually run 10 minutes or so at about 45-50 mph.

Gustav 10.01.2005 10:27 PM

You'll need to run very high gearing then,ie with an e-maxx tranny it'd be hard to gear it higher than about 20mph.

Is it the hacker you want to run?is it around 800kv?you never said.

24x800 is less than 20,000 rpm. You'd need a center diff or center slipper with a small spur and a huge pinion. It'd be much easier to get a motor with a higher kv if you want to run 24 volts. It'd give you much more choice of vehicle/tranny.Unless you can make your own pinions or know somewhere to get suitably large pinions.

I also have brushless motors in the 1500-2200 K/v 2, 4, and 6 poles. What do you suggest?

coolhandcountry 10.01.2005 10:30 PM

Must had it geared way up. I run a 9xl with 18 cells. I average about 25 mins with gp3700. I can run it 35-40mph bracket. The run time seems low to me. Have to keep me up to date. I am curious on this motor. Good luck on your project. Have you decided what you going to run?

Steve Vasdekis 10.01.2005 10:33 PM

I was thinking that the larger motor and the right gearing would produce 30-35 MPH speeds and loads of runtime in a fairly large 1/8 truck or something. I really like the revo and the gmaxx because of the high quality hop ups, I would consider something larger if someone had nice gear to throw at it.

coolhandcountry 10.01.2005 10:38 PM

I have a gmaxx double extended out to the length of a monster gt. Almost all aluminum except a few minor things. I like it. The revo seems to be nice. I don't own one so that is all I can say. Everyone talks good about them. I am in the process of a monster gt conversion. I am also converting a ofna mbx buggy.

The 1500-2200 k/v is in a better ballpark for the voltage you're talking about in the typical type of trucks and range of gearing we run.

The e-maxx tranny in the G-revo and maxx has quite a bit of reduction compared to a typical 1/8 buggy set up where the only reduction in the center tranny is the pinion to spur.

Under 20,000 rpm could be done with the e-maxx tranny but not with the pinions we have commonly available.

A truggy with a center diff would be easier though to get 35-40 mph from 20,000 rpm. Some of the guys here have excel spreadsheets for gearing that would help.

This is Serums,i haven't seen it though 'cause i haven't got excel:

Here's a question, if I don't have a donor emaxx or revo, could one be built from aftermarket parts completely? If so what kind of money am I looking at minus the electrics?

Gustav 10.01.2005 11:30 PM

Yep,definately.Mike puts complete trucks together for people i think anyway so you wouldn't need a donor unless you want to run stock parts and upgrade gradually.

In the case of the G-Revo,i believe Mike plans to sell complete front and rear end assemblies for those who don't already have a Revo.

To build a complete Maxx with parts from companies like UE can cost an arm and a leg,but a nice truck can be done for $1000-$1500 i think. The G-revo would work out considerably cheaper, and dare i say it equally effective given a little more development. Not quite as jaw dropping though. The only reason i'd personally build a maxx over a revo would be due to the appeal of the UE parts.FLM parts are very high quality too, tough and cheaper and they should have hybrid bulks for the Revo soon, hopefully with 1/8 diffs.

coolhandcountry 10.02.2005 08:42 AM

You can build one from nothing. I done my gmaxx that away. It really depends on how much bling you want to when it come down to price. If you don't need the electrical like motor esc and reciver and controller. That saves you some money.

Does anyone have something nice they want to part with? Email me at mmoilio@aol.com

Thanks,
Stee

Have you check out ebay? You can get some nice rc on there. Just have to watch.
