Awesome buggy, I really like the purple! Nice, clean layout too! It should scream with a 7xl on 14 cells, if that's what you were planning to do ;)

Wow nice buggy, its very purply
I think Mike may be on to something with that diff adapter

Very nice conversion, good job.

Oh yes, I really like the motor mount, looks bulletproof.

Yeah starscream.. I got some kind of idea what it is...

Here's a update, i poped the endbell off my 9L sunday. So i bought a 7XL from mike. I just did my first test run with the 7XL. I ran it up and down the street, gearing was 51t spur & 12t pinion & 12 cells. I must say i think im really going to like the new motor.
The acceleration was great temps were great. I also reprogramed my speedo after taking it out of my racebomb & putting it in my buggy. I noticed my brakes got better.

dabid 11.08.2005 03:56 AM

So the 7xl runs great on just 12 cells? My Ofna 9.5's Lehner 2800xl runs pretty darn hot in my buggy, but was worried that the 7xl would be too slow on 12 cells.......what kind of top speed did you get?

Dafni 11.08.2005 04:15 AM

Top speed obviously depends on gearing, and the 7XL can take a much higher gearing than a small fast-spinning motor.

Dabid, I thought your Lehner stays cool?!

dabid 11.08.2005 04:18 AM

Um, quite the opposite, last time out it hit 160.

Dafni 11.08.2005 04:24 AM

Hmm, not that bad after a full run! Only to be expected.
Well in the save range, no worries there.

rchippie 11.08.2005 03:23 PM

Dabid i'm not sure what the motor temp was i did'nt have my temp gun handy ,but after 10 min of running up and down the street. I was able to leave my hand on the motor for a long time if that helps.

Serum 11.08.2005 04:02 PM

Yeah, that means that it isn't much hotter than 125

That is a really nice looking buggy! I like you diff adapter too. I wish those were readily available. I just made an adapter out of my steel spur on my Hyper 7. It's kind of a hack job compared to what you've got.

Cartwheels 11.08.2005 08:50 PM

btw it is very, very, very hard to drill through a spur gear. I found an easier way to dill afterwards (by heating up till it's glowing red and letting cool slowly). The 51t plastic gear fits the stock hyper 7 housing almost perfectly.
