the slash and new emaxx have exactly the same wheelbase.
widen the slash with the rear arms all around or the jato wide arm conversion, add half offset truggy wheels and the width might also be similar. punt an emaxx body on and you have a lightweight 2wd emaxx.... |
hey, my stampede dosent tip over. and thats doing 30mph power slides on-road with moabs . 12.5" wb, 13"with, 1 3/8 gc...... actually i was thinking about doing the same thing. although more of a buggy.

Do you have a stock chassis to use? Would be much lighter tht way. You could take out the diff and tranny and put an outrunner where the diff would be. I bet you could get the truck under 6lb rtr with that setup on 4s.
You could try something like this: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...less_Outrunner Maybe have mtxmugen rewind it to ~180kv. |
Here is my old E-Maxx in 2wd. I broke a front diff and just pulled the driveshaft. This was my light-weight truck that I ran on a VXL system for a long time with no issues. Lots of people know the truck from the TRX forums, but I don't think I've posted many videos on here. Sorry for all the downtime, this was before I knew how to edit videos.
Edit- I forgot, a 2wd E-Maxx does NOT like to stop! Just locks the rear tires up and spins. http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...h_HPIM0107.jpg |
There's no way that was a single vxl. Surely a long winded literary battle is necessry for us to ascertain what was truly beneath the lexan lid of your "2wd e-maxx", if that's even what that was. It sounded like a kyosho....

BL-RVO, the oribinal al. gorilla chassis (2mm) come in lighter than the stock e-maxx and is way better for CG.
I counted everything yesterday and I could bring it down to 5.5 to 6lbs with the 4s lipo batts! A 2wd slash weight 5lbs with 2s and 5.5lbs with 3s lipo so my ultralight maxx is going to kick ass I think! I've got al turn, al pivot balls, no shifting servo, removed first gears from stock tranny, 4 shocks with trinity heavy springs and 50wt oil, no bumpers, rpm skids, panther komodo tires on claws wheels (145gr each) removed front diff and sliders, al. screws all around right now i'll put in my 8L but probably a lehner basic ot basic xl soon |

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...h_HPIM0125.jpg Edit- Oh and this is the truck after a long, hard bash session  It should clear up any misconceptions of what is "beneath the lexan lid". http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...w/HPIM0143.jpg |

very nice Serum!!
was that a basic or basic xl on there? I really like what you did with the bulkheads where you able to run stock sliders long before twisting them? do you still have your? |
Wow, that single vxl can is impressive. That dog didn't seem phased at all by the rc passing by. My dog (in my avatar) would have been chasing it like crazy!
|
The dog hates it. When I first got it I hit her at about 15mph and she has stayed away ever since. And she is 16 years old, not really one to chase cars anymore. I originally built the single VXL truck to see how well, if at all, it worked. It turned out so well that I kept it much longer than I thought I was going to. In all those videos it was only geared 66/18(stock). I geared it to 64/22 and it was much faster. The temps got high, up to 185 so I dropped it back down to 64/20 and it was plenty fast. When I raced the MM/7XL/4s the race was very close. The difference was the driver. Once I raised the gearing a bit the VXL was much faster than the 7XL. His truck was very heavy, though.

I am guessing you ran 3s with the vxl? If so your 64/20 gearing is good for about 40mph. I got an emaxx to do 55 with a s can feigao (similar to the vxl motor, but it was higher kv). I was suprise how much power the s can motors could put out. It did not have any issues with my 4wd emaxx with 22/54 gearing, but it did pull enough amps to overdraw the lipo and thermal the MM. If I had the better lipos I have now and a MMM it may have worked. Second gear was good for 70+mph in theory, but the esc would shut down if I tried full throttle in that gear. Motor did not get too hot either, even with 100+amp draw. I have a feeling the crappy maxamps 3s 10000 lipo was responsible for the mm cutting off. |
Yeah it was 3s Venom 5400mAh LiPo. Not great packs, but good for 40+ on my truck. Noone believed me for the longest time on there though.
