Yes, the 3905 tranny would be a nice touch for sure (not as good as a slipperential though - hmmmmmmmm).
Right now I want to get it running and see what falls off first. When I start having to fix it I'll probably want to start experimenting.

The gearbox is a new offering from www.eracingpro.com. They aren't on the site as yet seemingly. I scored it from a Canadian seller on Ebay.

Now, where is that darn postman and the rest of my stuff?

So I locked the gearbox into 2nd gear with a Redneck modification. I don't expect long life from the gearbox so it'll do until I find an alternate.
RR Slipper clutch arrived today so I'm another step closer to target......

Thanks for the link Marcus. Totally cool. The stang I can't even begin to say how nice I think that is. Let me just say it gave me goose bumps more then once. Very impressive and flat out jaw dropping nice. Thanks for the ride around the course too. The video is deceiving as to how fast you are actually going. It was a fun ride. Well done driving, I didn't see anyone in the rearview the whole time. :) I wondered why their right hand blinkers would come on when you passed them on the right hand side. It became clear when I was looking at your old cars. Your son sitting on the wrong side behind the wheel. The light came on eventually. Yes I was a little bored, but probably not as bored as you were when you put it together. I was curious as to what led up to the current summer toy.

Back on topic. I have some RR DD slipper stuff in the back not being used or needed. Holler if you need something.

marcus 01.08.2009 09:57 AM

I'm good for the Slipper now, thanks for the offer though

I suppose I'll be hooking up with a Gorillax single speed unit for the gearbox as and when and sticking with the RR Slipper.

Is the RR slipper the one guys are using generally or is there another I should be considering?

Yes, Video foreshortens the whole experience in a car [and many other fast paced scenarios] doesn't it. I can tell you that the feeling in the car was somewhat more fraught. The 'g' meter tells a more realistic story, you see it twitching as the rear was dancing on the edge of grip hahahaha

Actually I am now in the land of left-hand-drive (Canada), the video was on the road course at Cayuga, just outside Toronto. Been here for 2 years nearly.
The idea for the blinkers is that a car being past is suppossed to show which side he'd prefer to be passed on, so it varies depending on track position, and whether the victim even sees you coming of course

Most of us have did the conversion to run the revo slipper. There's a couple threads in the revo and maxx forum about the conversion. Depends on which case you are using which thread will be the most helpful. There's a pretty good range of spurs to choose from now days to use with it. Why I have RRDD's not being used anymore.

marcus 01.08.2009 07:45 PM

So it's advisable to stick with a plastic spur ?

Gee 01.08.2009 09:06 PM

Yeah, the plastic spurs will work fine. I've only had one spur strip on me since I put the revo slipper on. It was preventable too, the motor loosened up on me. Give your slipper a little play and they hold up great. Another plus that I like are they are a bit quiter then the metal spurs. I tired the RR metal spur a long time ago. This was before I found out about hardened pinions. Man that thing ate two different sets of the traxxas pinions up in one run.

I had been using the Strobe Slipper with a 51T/20T Mod 1 combo. Good luck finding them though. It's not being made anymore.

By the way, I ditched my gorillamaxx single motor mount in favor of the stock traxxas to provide better heat dissipation. The extra aluminum surface helps in keeping my motor cool.

I have only a scant idea of what you just wrote (Damn my superb schooling) but I get the feeling you think a Turbo Jetta would school a 500hp supercharged Mustang

Back on topic:

Got the Castle-Neu 2200kv combo today so I'll be installing it tonight.
I see what you guys mean about the notchy rotation of the slotted rotor, if it made a popping noise I'd swear it was a Nitro motor !!!!
