Medusa 36-70 is On the way. Any Updates Mike? I will need one very soon...

Slightly off topic, but I have a question about the medusa front cover that you (Mike) makes.

I have the neu cover and it attaches to the motor via 4 screws. Does the medusa cover do the same? I only ask because the medusa motors have a 25mm patern and a 19mm. I have a motor with one of the 25mm patern holes stripped, and the cover would be nice cause I cold bolt it on with the other 3 good holes... Guess I need to make an order from you Mike...

Yes, James - the Medusa front cover attaches to the motor via both the 25mm and 19mm holes(4 screws), just like the Lehner/Neu front cover. It also has a larger center hole to accomodate the protruding bearing section on the Medusa motors. :)

Thanks for the fast reply Mike! I will be placing an order shortly!

Has anyone tried, that how much it makes difference in temperature, when you have frontend covered, both ends covered, and when both ends are open??

Rnemhrd 02.21.2009 04:43 PM

I have the RCM heatsink/clamp and a .5"x2" slit at the bottom of the windshield and on 4s geared for 45 I'm lucky to hit 100f usually 95f +/- at the end of a 8000mah pack with it 35f outside air temps. That is a lot of full speed runs and brakes at 50% using them alot. Never ran it with the ends open. The vent hole alows the air to hit the motor head on. May be why it runs that cool. That and the 35f outside.

A word of advice from someone who found out the hard way. Make sure you run some sort of clamp with these motors. They can fall apart and destroy themselves . I found out second race yesterday, end bell fell off and the rotor destroyed its self. Funny thing was the medusa even after that was still no where near as hot as my feigao runs with two fans that I had to swap back too.

Great motor just needs screws through the end bell or a clamp. Poxy does not work.

Every Medusa motor I have owned has had the endbell come loose, usually a smearing of Loctite Bearing Retainer holds it back in.

Interesting. My Muggy has been tossed around pretty hard and the 80mm hasn't come loose once. Too bad this has plastic endbells, if they were metal I'd smear some red locktite on it and that should hold it through just about anything.

Plastic endbells? The endbell on my 80mm medusa is metal. And yeah I wouldn't trust the cap to stay on even if it has until now. Even if you just wrap a cable tie around it cause that's probably all it would need.

Wrong thread  I'm waiting for Mike's endbell covers to come out. The Muggy isn't running right now anyway, sheared and bent the screws holding the rear shock tower on :whip:

I am now also waiting for the covers. I'm hoping to get the cash together soon for a big order from mike and I'll order a clamp at the same time. Hopefully medusa will warranty or at least do a deal on new motor.

I'm hoping to keep my medusa relatively cool so i fitted the novak blank off disk. It encases the bearing.
