Two sides.
There is two sides to this(good & bad). I have waited for this day for a long time and I am really excited for the whole experience of R/C with my family. I know my boys will benefit in many ways like learning the mechanical & electrical aspects of our hobby, as well as the joys of doing R/C in general. The down side is that they are already expressing excitement of upgrading, and improving in ways that will cost a lot of money. It has been hard enough just to keep my own R/C spending under control. I have literally spent $3K to $5K a year getting my hobby up and running to the level that I am happy with, and actually I could always spend more. Now I have even more to consider with both of our boys involved, and then my wife and daughter want to become a part of things. And of course kids are not patient about anything. They do not understand how much money is involved or how long it takes to acquire the money and finally put hands on the parts that are required/wanted for such improvements. Thank God I am going to be starting back to work soon, because we will need the money. I can only imagine how much this may get into money wise. All in all I know it will all work out for the good. Life is good.

This is such a cool thread! Thanks for posting it! I am so looking forward to when my son can start running with me! Well, that is the double-edge sword isn't it? You don't want them to grow up too fast, but yet they make such a good buddy to play with! None of my friends are into RC, so I play by myself at this point. My son will be 4 in June, and I will be looking to get him something to start with soon, other than the toy RC junk he has had.
Again, great thread! Thanks for posting, from one Dad to another! :yipi: |
Happy times.

Either way, your boys will learn to appreciate what they have and what you're doing for them. Not a lot of fathers spend quality time with their kids for whatever reason they might have. I know I learned the meaning of quality time after being out at sea for much of my Navy career. Good job introducing them to the world of rc :party::party:. |
Thanks.
Thanks Lito. It really is rewarding to see how much they love jsut being a part of the R/C experience, and now they are craving more attention from me along that line. I am enjoying it, but I have so much more work to do. You are right about the learning of patients though. They are begining to realize just what is involved in taking care of these beasts and keeping them running properly. Lots of lessons to learn.
Sorry to hear about the massive amounts of sea time:rofl:. I did less than 45 days at sea in over 20 years in the Navy:yes:. Just lucky I guess:lol::yipi:. |

You just love rubbing that on me don't you :rofl::whip:? 10 1/2 years at sea out of 17 1/2 years sucks but oh well :neutral::neutral:. |
