absolutely not drop in like i said its a lot of work, toyota changed the motor completly in the 93 car, its a better bet to just find a different car, or live with an NA supra.

Pretty much everyone is right. For one, that turbo is garbage. You don't necessarily need a ball bearing turbo, but definitely something that isn't made in China. I'd get something like a Garrett, Turbonetics, etc. Hell, a decent turbo to replace the one on my Camaro would cost upwards of 2 grand just for the turbo.

One thing I have not seen mentioned about the cheapy ebay turbo is that it is a T3. There is now way a T3 can flow 25 PSI. They cap out efficiency about 19psi and optimally at 15psi, anything past that is lost to heat and creates extra wear. You can do a T3/T4 hybrid, t3 on the inlet side and t4 on the compressor side, this allows the quicker spool up of the smaller turbo with more volume of a larger compressor side. It will not push 25, but will hold 19-21 with out issue.
to run 25 psi besides all the additional mods that have been mentioned you would want to look at T4 60 trim turbos minimal. |
Get a diesel. Run high boost in that :mdr:

I put a turbo from a cummin's TD on my rx-7 when I had it just to play around. It was 8k rpm before it spooled and 12k before I hit full boost. A 200 shot spooled it quicker though :) It was just for play, I shortly returned to the single t60 with a 100 shot to spool it fast. |
