What was your reason to switch to an external bec. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like you would increase the possibility of failure buy using one, when you don't have to.

Run times.....A-mains can be up to 30 mins.

Just had my MMM die on me as well. Its on its way back to CC as well. Mine just went off and that was it. No smoke, no crap. Just off

Pretty cut, thats 2 weeks so far without an ESC :(

jzemaxx,

i just sent back 2 that had the very same problem.:surprised: they seem to go along great, and then all of the sudden they lose power and nothing works. i too tried to bypass the switch, but nothing worked there either.

My lhs just sent 3 systems back for a customer who does mailorder in ST. Thomas that had the very same issue. one was from a 2200 system, one was a standalone V3 and the other was a flux esc....... this is semi- alarming to me as 90% of all my vehicles use 4S-6S and need higher voltage escs.

i just went and bought 3 more back-up MMM systems, and i still have a LT-6S and a 150A EZ-run so hopefully that will hold me up for awhile.

Not to sidetrack, but how does the EZrun 150A stack up against the MMM? And is it a sensored ESC?

I haven't tried it yet, (and i hope i don't have to)but it supports sensored and sensorless.....i've heard good things about the esc, but not on the motors.

I am about to send the MMM that blew back and my local LHS will no longer send them back for me....arrgghh. Now he is talking like CC may not warranty it. If they don't I'm done with CC. I will be ditching the MMM once the season of racing is over I can get my hands on the Hobbywing 150. Heard nothing but good things about it, but can't seem to find where they sell them.

BTW: I'll keep you guys posted on whether they warranty it or not. :eyes:

If your local hobby shop is telling you what Castle may or may not do, give them a foot up the ass. Sounds like they are getting tired of helping you spend your money. Just seems silly to put words in Castle's mouth about the matter.

My LHS has been good to me and does me right, but apparently that is what his rep told him. He said that I have to send it in directly from this point on using this link.

That is the typical way of warranty service, but Castle will accept it from the retailer too- no matter how many ESCs you have busted.

JZ,

You have a PM.

hemiblas 02.20.2009 06:49 PM

I had a v2 that went out after 15 minutes and now 2 V3 units that are running great on similar setups on 4S and 5S. Good luck. I'm sure they will warranty them for you. It doesnt sound like you have done anything to warrant them turning you down for repair.

FYI, an external bec will not increase runtimes. The MMM already has a built in switching bec, and an external bec operates the same way.
