Like was said, dual motor/ESC just complicates things, and increases the chances for problems should an ESC or motor go bad (like if a motor demags a little). I can't think of any instance where a single larger motor would not be preferable to a dual setup. Unless it's for show, because it does look cool.

Guess i will join the party:lol:

Single BL, less weight, less to go wrong. Nuff said. BUT to each his own...

WOW! :surprised: I stirred up a hornets nest. ok maybe I'll drop the dual ideas. Is the EVX able to handle a lipo? I am just getting back into rc so lipo and brushless are still unknowns to me but you guys here have been helping to edumacate me.

Yes as long as you run a Lipo Voltage Cutoff (LVC) and only run 4s. THat should be plenty of power anyway. Novak makes some LVCs and you should run one 4s LVC instead of two 2s LVCs if you do plan to run lipos.

I'm new to lipo and only recently started researching them. Do you mean use two 2s1p batteries? How would you hook one of those Novak LVCs to 2 battery packs? What would be a good charger for lipos? I've got some more work done but going to wait till after I get my servos in and bodies painted and trimmed. Any tips on batteries, chargers and painting is much appreciated.

I just wanted to pop in and say nice sledgehammer you've got there.

As for batteries and chargers:
I've personally had no problems with Zippy packs from HobbyCity, this includes the Rhino packs. I've got a pair of NeuEnergy packs which I haven't run yet but they're highly respected packs. I'd avoid Maxamps as they're overpriced and have quality control issues.

After doing a lot of charger research I ended up buying a iCharger 106B+. iCharger makes 3 different chargers and they can be found at amainhobbies, progressiverc and hobbyCity. The Hyperion chargers are also very popular and have a good reputation. I know RCMonster sells the Hyperion chargers.

Big iCharger information thread.

There's also a ton of general battery/charger information on that forum.

The LVC you hook up to your ESC and plug into your reciever. Anyone with soldering experience and an IQ north of mayonnaise can do it. I dont have a diagram but the instructions have one on them I believe. And yes, you would need two 2s1p batteries.
