My wife runs the slash the most, has vxl stuff in it so has plenty of pep, and has taken some pretty horrific tumbles. Only maintenance to it has been a couple sets of back tires, and a back bumper. My only complaint is we mainly run them in the yard, and in the summer the grass is too high. I just picked up an old e-maxx I'm thinking about pulling the front diff and shafts, and kind of having a e-sportmaxx, with a cheap brushless setup for this summer for better grass running.

Nah, there is a limt for pic size here.

As for world stupidity, I think we all have a hand in that, maybe not all of the time, but I have done a few "forehead slappers" in my time, DOH!

All girls want to do is yank the trigger. I got a MRC and that is the most fun my wife has ever had RCing and it gives her plenty of time to react and really learn how to drive. So my suggestion is a losi mini crawler...crawling is fun and addicting, major change of pace from the go fast.

My Rustler is the most durable thing I've got. Once you replace the Traxxas parts with something better they're impossible to break. Out of the box Hyper 7s are very tough.

I have to vote for the Schumacher Havoc. Yes, it's nitro, but if you're motivated enough to do a conversion on it...it's honestly THE toughest-built RC out there IMO. Construction isn't too different to a Panzer tank lol. Bulletproof drivetrain, indestructible suspension...the thing's just nuts. Heck, Schumacher actually market the thing as a "Stunt Truck"...and they built it accordingly.

Of course, it depends on what you want from the RC. If you're not planning on hurling it through the air, then maybe a Slash or Rustler would be more suitable.

Like BrianG said put lower voltage battery packs in so it keeps her speed in a more reasonable range, hence she will not be able to kill the vehicle so easily. Let her get the hang of driving at slower speeds and once she gets the hang of it, and you feel comfortable bump the voltage up with larger packs. No matter what vehicle you set her up with, if she does not get her lead finger under control she will kill it.

Trying to find an RC that won't break is like trying to find a GF that won't age. Better off just running 'em hard and enjoying them, and replace any parts that break. Be careful of part "upgrades" as they expensive quick. Couple hop-ups are ok, but the last thing you want to build is a shelf queen that's expensive and doesn't want to be touched w/o more money. You're best off getting one well built out of the box rather than trying to make something its not and never will be. Just trade 'em off every few years when the parts get worn out and sloppy. Somebody is always cheap or broke enough to pick 'em up.

Great write up. I love the comparison analogy. It's amazing how our GF or significant other require teh same treatment in order to do what we want them to do. I know my wife will get a kick out of that one.

I have heard that the TRX Summit holds up pretty well under unskilled driving like you described. Or maybe your just not hitting the operator hard enough to get it under the desired control. Who is in command at your place?
