Why wont he just polish it , so its silver?
|
@ papa;
Bitumen is tarmac. I would take a jigsaw, some caustic soda and some polish and make that mount perfect silver.. |
That look good. Could you get a video of it? I like to see it in action.

There are a few stock parts on this beast. The motor mount, output gear, idler shaft, bumpers and mounts and the body posts are all stock parts! The input shaft is a stock part, though it has been modified to take the kind of torque the Steve is putting through it!
Papa - that is an "L" sized heatsink. I must say, this is among my favorite trucks - it has beef where it is needed, yet is still under 8 pounds without batteries and nearly bulletproof. It took some custom shafts to mount the tranny like it is(single speed mounted to the rear for better CG and to get the motor/controller closer together), but it is the perfect location in my opinion. By the way, Steve...on 6S Lipo, you are probably a little over 50MPH at top speed! Pretty hairy in a Monster truck! |
You build it for him, Mike?
|
What gave it away? ;)
|
Nice truck there! Very nice.
I can imagine a 1940/6 is a hanfull on 6S. Wow! What temps are you getting? |
Hey Guys and Gals,
Glad you liked the truck. Yep, Mike did all the spanner work on this one, as time was a bit of an issue. This is my first set of Lipos, so being a little careful right now. Run times are in the 15 to 20 min bracket with the 3200mah packs. With moderate use. When I say moderate, its because most of the time you cant even go anywhere near WoT. I was just saying to Mike that when the new race season starts here in Feb, I will probably go to 4s, as the 6s is really a wild ride. The top speed is nice, but the torque is just insane on 6s. Temp wise, the motor is fine, but the controller is gettin a bit hot. It has never thermalled on me though, and remember its my summer here in Australia, and I live in Queensland. For the Americans I get temps outside around 100 to 110. So if its not thermalling ..im happy :) Will fit a fan at some point though, just to play it safe. I wish I could post a video of this truck in action, but dont have a vid camera right now (decided to buy a truck instead :) ). I'll see if some of my friends have one I could use. Tambo |
That is a great truck! Now that's a dream truck, I can only hope to get one that nice. very very nice  :D
|
Yeah it sure is a dream truck, how much did it cost? $2,000?
|
Hey Sylvester,
Well, by the time I added the electronics, and misc bits, its actually closer to $3000. So I suppose you can say, dreams don't come cheap! By far the nicest RC I have driven though :) Tambo |
Hey tambo. I would like to know if you have any problems with the spektrum and the bk. Do you have any glitch or stutter problems? Thanks
|
Hey Coolhand,
No problems at my end, no glitches at all, and only a very slight stutter at take off. if you try to ease the truck off at slightly slower than walking pace, it will stutter a little on take off and then smooth out. But really wouldnt call that a problem. Tambo |
how did you get your motor to mount like that on a stock mount? i am confused about that. but nice truck
