Hi,

HP is determined by how many total watts of power your motor is putting out.

You can figure this if you know how many amps your setup is pulling.

watts = amps X volts

An electric HP is 746 watts.

3.5 HP is 2611 watts.

What do you mean Neu easily has Lehner beat? Lehner is top quality like Neu, Plettenberg, Hacker etc... Just a different build type. Lehners/Hackers are more of rpm type motors or "top end" because of them being 2-poles. Plettenberg/Neu/Medusa are more of torque motors due to them having 4-poles.:yes: Determining on what your going for "top speed or torque" either one will not dissapoint.

If your looking for cheap raw power the KB45 XL's are still the way to go.:intello:

2.4 if my formula is correct ( HP = watts (1800) / 746 ).

It'll still pown the nitro without much trouble, just use grippy tires and lower the suspension, and gear down a bit.

Will do! I have grippy tires, and have geared down A LOT lol. I'm going to lower my suspension and I should be ready for war!! lol.

This all I could find about the BigMaxxium

The Plettenberg Big maximum motor is a 4 pole motor runs 2300kV per RPM. At 18 volts, power is 1271W, current draw 70.3A, rpm 37688, torque 28.9N-cm and efficiency is 89.8%.

Can't you figue out horsepower from watts?

1 hp = 745W; so that would be about 1.7 hp. It looks like that spec is at max. efficiency. The Bigmaxximum can handle (and output) much more power than that for short durations.

Yep it looks like specs are 1800 watts, which would be 2.4 HP.

Yeah, but even that is just the continuous rating... :mdr: If you had some good lipos (30C 5K) on that motor you would see bursts of more than 4 hp.

I think the point is: A nitro engine has an actual limit on it's power output. An electric motor will put out as much power as it needs to, based on the load applied. Whether the rest of the system, or the motor itself, can handle that power is another question.

If you live in the Netherlands, the Plett may be cheaper and easier to get service for, but I'm not sure about that. Neu motors are excellent in performance and quality and you have to screw up pretty bad to mess one up. Their service is fast and cheaper than most other top-end motors. As far as I know no other company holds more world speed records than Neu.
