I have autocad 2009 on my system and i have never used it. i think i will have to give it a go. There are so many things i could make.

I noticed this an wonder if anyone can find a hole in my logic...

If you go to the g4 info page and click replacements it pull up 5 parts you can buy. The main chassis plate, top brace, servo plate, post set, and hardware. Add up those prices? 166... So the kit is 219, but all of the parts in the kit are 166? So you pay 53 bucks for the straps, sticker sheet and the instructions? But wait, you can print the instructions straight off the G-maxx site. So the stickers and straps are 53 bucks? But you can buy the straps for 14 bucks, so the sticker sheet costs 39 bucks?

You cold also skip the hardware (I read the instructions and I have all of those sized screws laying around) and get the price down to 140...

I must be missing something here? Plus all of the parts are in stock...even though the kit is not.

That is interesting, I also noticed converting mine (G2R) to a CF chassis would cost about 140

MiRatlhed 04.24.2009 10:42 AM

I just bought two G3R trucks two weeks ago then I read this thread and I was like "oh you got to be kidding me" I was going to buy two stock Erevo's but I liked the Gorilla better and I read that it was a better racing chassis. Well I will buy some extra parts while I can still get them. Mike is getting me the center shafts I need from here so I was lucky. Those are hard to find from independent people, not anyone has info or parts. I asked on 3 different forums about info and no one posted any replies. I am glad I got approved for this forum.

I'm building a G3R as well and was a little disturbed to hear this rumour. Is it a rumour or has it been confirmed that GorrillaMax is no more? I'm about 3/4 of the way through my build. I still have to figure out the transmission and slipper clutch mod. It looks like Mike's Slipperential wouldn't work all that well in this application........ I think........

I also want to design a mounting plate for the MMM so that it sits above the battery packs. I don't like the idea of it sitting above the motor. It seems like it would be too vulnerable up there.

MiRatlhed 04.24.2009 12:23 PM

The truck I bought had the two posts for the EVX plate above the rear shocks. So I fabricated a plate and mounted my ESC there. Well I am just clearing the shocks and I can't run my crowd pleaser body because the ESC sits too high and I would have to raise my body but I have a wing so I really can't unless I take my wing off. So take a pic when you get your MMM mounted above the packs so I can see it to. I am using my EMaxx powerplant right now and am going to get Brushless soon. I have to quit buying UE parts for my SuperMaxx....lol That is the system I want to get the Castle MMM.

Traxxas Addict 04.24.2009 12:37 PM

I'll post them when I get there. Problem is I keep breaking my E-Revo so I find I am spending too much time on it and not on the new build.

Gorillamaxx is still operating but the G3 (Emaxx and Revo) chassis will be discontinued, or maybe already is. I plan to buy a few extra plates and maybe a few CF ones as well

that's exactly what i did. I ordered the set of parts about a week ago... My first G-4 took 3 days to get here, but after not seeing anything for a week, I emailed George yesterday and he emailed me back within a few hours saying the G-4 bottom plates were all that was being held up and those should be done this weekend....

I'm REALLY GLAD GORILLAMAXX IS STAYING AROUND. they've made the best running 3905 I've set up yet. even better than my FLM imo.

crazyjr 04.25.2009 04:29 AM

I just hope they don't leave the Revo crowd hanging, I'd be willing to get a G4 based revo chassis without reservation

Chadworkz 06.11.2009 10:33 PM

I believe they could make a killing if they built 1/16 G2, G3, and G4 stuff for the mini VXL E-Revo and E-Slayer!

Does anyone know enough about patents to know if making a smaller version of the G3 & G3R Carbon-Fiber chassis would be illegal? Or did Gorillamaxx even patent their stuff? I wouldn't want to copy their stuff exactly, but a mini version of their chassis would be sick!

suicideneil 06.12.2009 05:23 PM

Only has to be 10% different from what I understand, soa 1/16 version would certainly be alright in my eyes. There are plenty of Gorillamaxx type chassis out there- underslung battery tray isnt a unique thing, but it is the biggest selling point of the design...

Chadworkz 06.12.2009 07:39 PM

Do you think there would be enough interest to make a run large enough to make a profit? I am guessing maybe 100 chassis kits or so?

suicideneil 06.13.2009 11:07 AM

Hmmmmm....

Best way to find that out would be to head over to the... **shudders** .... traxxas forum, and post a hyperthetical thread asking the same question. To avoid the nazis from shutting you down, I would say make it clear that you arent the guy making the chassis ( ), and you're just trying to guage interest- ask about price points they woud be willing to pay (since most 1/16 users seem to be younger guys from what I've seen), and also be clear that it isnt detracting from traxxas' $$$, since they dont make an aftermarket chassis; if anything, it would boost sales probably if people could hop up their little vehicles ( I would never have built an emaxx if their were no aftermarket parts for example, not that traxxas benefited much but anyways..).

Something like that maybe, since Im not a 1/16 guy myself, only likes big trucks me-self.... :mdr:

magman 06.13.2009 04:14 PM

I have a chassis in the mail to me as we speak which is similar the the gorilla maxx design for my Revo 3.3 conversion ,but, it is not a Gorilla Maxx chassis
