the nylon spurs work just fine as long as you have good gearmesh. also, things would be much longer lasting if you go mod 1 or mod .8 (32p). I did this mod on the vader with a savage 46t nylon spur, and a rc-monster 5mm bore pinion, and if needed, Mike makes a shaft reducer so you can use a 5mm pinion on a 1/8th inch motor shaft

......
Sick, but I think a metal spur should be lasting awhile :p

hate to hijack this thread, but a nylon mod 1 spur can last as long as a steel one, as long as you have the proper gearmesh.

Err no...

yeah steel spurs are only for people who cant mesh gears properly. I've been running the nylon 48p gears since stock (MM, 4s, Feiago 9L) and have never had a problem. Not even any noticeable wear. That goes for all my cars/trucks.

If you live near sand dunes you could do I what I did, I got the extended chassis and put sand paddles on the rear - makes an awsome dune buggy (think mini baja :p). Can never be overpowered in the sand :p

Oh and ditch the RPM gear, it sucks. No wonder it doesn't break, its basically rubber it's that flexible  no good if you want any kind of decent handling or suspension.

I'm in the process of building up a super Florida sand basher out of one of my rustlers. Theres a sinkhole at a big garden/woods area near my house where some bmx guys have kindly built some dirt jumps to fly off of.

sand basher? dirt jumps? sand \neq dirt :p I wouldn't run my sand paddles on dirt, it would ruin them.

Eh, I never really thought of myself as a good gear-mesh-er :P

Forget the CM36 motors, vxl all the way.

When i was setting up this car, I used 32P Jato spur... Plastic. it lasted for as long as i owned it. the only time it had problems was when Ian used it for tripple backflips.
