Handles well, enough ground clearance, tough as nails, and can do everything the other vehicles can. However, if you're never in any really rough areas, than a buggy will work out perfect for you.

and the savage has 3.5''-4'' of clearence. just convert the savage if you just wanna bash. a truggy or buggy cannot handle jumps and are not as durable as a savage.

I've ovned both a truggy and many savages. Although the savage is an excellent truck, it needs quite a few upgrades to be as tough as my hyper ST pro. I've never broken a single thing on my hyper ST. Only thing that went wrong was I stripped a ball end. Literally a $3 fix, while I have needed to put $100s into my savages to keep them running (when I had them.)

I'd say my Hyper ST is tougher than the savage, but the Sav us quite tough, just a few lame parts.

Truggies and buggies are like offroad F1 cars. Low, fast and aggressive. Very tunable and usually very tough. Truggies have truck tires, but can still get bogged down in long grass. Limited ground clearance is best for smoother dirt, street and short grass.

MT's are just like that. Bigfoot, Gravedigger, etc. Big burly and good for drving over stuff. Long grass, rough lots (construction lots,) rocks, hills, woods, etc. Have to slow down for turns or likely to roll.

All or fun, but excel in different areas. Where you drive most/ enjoy most is what I would base my decision on.

I think you'd be fine with a Truggy, but if you have your heart set on a Savage then get it. I can't see you going wrong with a Buggy, Truggy, or Savage and if the Savage is what you want then it is the right choice. I had a Revo, and it was fun to drive and bash but my Muggy will outhandle it and is built to handle lots of power. A Truggy will handle well on the street (suspension will be a bit soft for street use if you want it to be bashable offroad, but it will work), drive well in grass as long as it's not too long, and once you get it in the dirt it will truly come alive.

I am starting to like a truggy... Buggy cannot handle the grass or lots that I like to mess around in. Truggy MIGHT. Mt yes.

On a side note, I was considering buying a motor from Ryan (Takedown on the forums). It is from BP. It's supposidly similar to an 8xl, but with a finned can. Any thoughts on this? Says he bought it for $60 and would give me a good discount.

I was thinking for a Savage setup... 8xl (BP motor), MMM esc (can upgrade to a nicer motor later, or 6s), 5s Zippy 5000 mah. Then either a FLM conversion, or a Kershaw conversion mount... Any thoughts? I have seen the 8xl, and it rips. It would be a budget setup. $170 for the BL setup, $80 for the Lipo, and then maybe $70-$100 for the conversion setup. Such as aluminum spur, pinions (5mm)... I am just praying it wont run hot. That is only ONE possible setup. The other is a truggy, and a buggy is ruled out, pretty much...

Just watching that vid. That is the guy that is going to sell me the finned 8xl. Pretty impressive. Half throttle... i don't know. I would say 3/4. It looked like it got up to 35-40. and I doubt it will go 70-80.

Decided on the Savage. Thanks all for the replies. I feel attached to it, and I like the truck. So I have decided that i already own it, I am used to it now, and I am going to convert it.

Thats Takedown... He shattered his 2 speed with a feigao. and no offense to him but the motor hes trying to sell you is about the same quality as a feigao... Dont skimp or you will end up paying more in the long run- i have been there.

It'll work, but it is a crappy motor.

It will work. I had a 8xl I ran in a revo on 4 and 5s for quite a while. It put out good power and was fast. The big adv to the better motors are they have way more TQ and power for the same size, and run far cooler. Having to stop the truck and let the motor cool as it hit 180 is a PITA. Esp if you are running it in a big heavy sav on 5S. A 80mm 1600kv Medusa would be well worth the extra $$ spent.

I'd cut as much accesories (like wheelie bars) out as possible if it meant it would fall into the budget.
