Well I find it humorous that we will put thousands into an RC fleet (or even just one!) and scrimp on a PS..... Hobby Lobby sells a 30 amp for $80, and a 40 amp for $100, both of which output 13.8V, not 12. I say get one of these and be done with it...
And Mike, howbout selling these? |
CRAP... apparently they are not selling them anymore- wtf they still carry the 20 amp tho. Shoulda checked before I posted, sorry. Do a search for PowerForce power supply- someone must still have them. (MaxAmps does, but they are OVERPRICED)

I use a 0-20V, 0-10Amp programmable power supply actively charging a 12 lead acid starter batt running a 720i charger, I just set the voltage at 12v and 40 amps. I get full 250watts from the charger, can charge a 4200 6s pack at 10 amps.
I bought a Chargery power PS (250watt), but I have problems with the 720i shutting down or rebooting from power hiccups when charging over 200watts. |
A good quality, high output power supply won't be cheap. The cheap ones are just like other cheap electronics: way over-rated and built from low tolerance components.
You just spent $300 on a nice charger. Don't take a risk on a cheap-o power supply that's going brown-out, give "dirty" power, and possibly overload and ruin the charger. |
