i went from electric to gas, to electric, to gas, and now both. Honestly, i preffere electric motre. I bet u never seen a electric racer, not race cuz his car flammed out?

Why not? everybody has a preference, my dad liked nitro and i liked electric. I used to race slotcars and was good at it, about ten years ago they went out of business and i needed a new hobby. At that time nitro was an elite racing exotic and not many couldtune them, so i stuck with what i knew. I have got a couple of nitro's and learn something about them every time i run them, but i prefer electrics.

Well, what is the point of being able to type amazingly fast if nothing you ever write will be easily decifered by a reader? Personally, proper spelling comes first and then the speed comes with time and practice. Going to a college prep school has given me plenty of opportunities with the numerous essays.

I would have to say that the number one reason I do not run nitro is simply the mess! Nitro, dirty, clay and unmentionable substances everywhere. So, like many before me, I have taken the durability of nitro, and the reliability of electric and mixed them together. Although I have yet to take the plunge into lipo. I doubt I ever will unless I discover oil in my back yard.

There's a spell check in the Quick Reply boxes, it's the ABC with a check through it. Download the software (look at the thread in the lounge) if you haven't already.

As for an electric "flaming out", I had an incident where I was racing my 1/8 electric buggy, and the announcer said, "And the electric flames out!" This was due to bad battery mounting which caused a battery bar on the NiMhs (that I was borrowing from Dabid, since my Lipo pack just got damaged) to break. Had the pack been secured better, this wouldn't have happened.

i like nitro cause of the noise and the ease of filling the tank and going again. but i like electric cause of how quiet it is and its more practical. I can play with my electric around home without disturbing anyone. my dog prefers electric aswell, he liked to play with my emaxx but he wanted to kill my savage lol. So now im getting a savage so i can run it nitro when i want and im making it brushless so i can play with it everyday around home.

I can drive any of my cars inside my house, anytime....nitro just can't do that.

i like the nitros more because of the realism you get while running them. with a temp guage i can run all day with my nitros, 150cc tanks get you 25 minutes nicely. whenever i'm bored with one of the nitros i pull out an electric one, i don't have any brushless ones yet so i can understand why you guys like electric better and i don't yet. its a pain to take 20 batteries with me and have them all charged up where i run. i don't take the trucks to a track that other guys race at since there isn't one closer than 100 miles from me... i take them to motorcross tracks and bmx tracks usually in the middle of the woods, strapped to the nerf bar on the quad...no plugs for the chargers out there.

What I like about electric:

- Much less noise
- Ability to run indoors
- Less mess from Nitro
- Less maintenance
- Better torque
- No break in
- No glo-plugs to replace
- No trouble starting
- Less tinkering to get it right (I always seem to be adjusting the needles for the weather that day).
- Don't have to keep buying fuel.
- BL Motors generally last longer than Nitro engines and only require new bearings to rebuild, so are cheaper to rebuild when necessary.
- Require fewer servos and mechanical linkages (less things to go wrong).
- Having or not having reverse is a simple programming change.

When I got my Revo, I was really on the fence between the E-Maxx and the Revo because I really wanted electric, but the Revo was just too damn cool to pass up, so I got that :) Now that I'm working on my E-Revo, I'll have two Revos and the best of both worlds (in my opinion at least).

Just today I was out driving my Traxxas electric Rustler. This is nowhere near stock, with the only stock parts being:
-front body mounts
-steering bellcrank
-lower part of rear shock tower
-rear suspension arms
-diff gear and top gear
-slipper clutch

This was my first run on 4s Lipo, and the power is just stupid! No traction could be gotten on loose dirt with HPI Yokohoma tires all around. I was at the park with my friend who has a Traxxas Nitro Rustler (2.5). His vehicle is stock for the most part. He was having a problem with one of his rear CVDs where the ball kept popping out of the cup on the right side after 10 seconds of driving. He adjusted the camber so that it was very negative, and raised the shocks on the shock tower to lower the ride height.

Anyways, each time he had to fix this, he had to stop the engine. I would sometimes help him, and just leave my electric Rustler sitting there, waiting for a throttle input. Once he was all fueled up, he stuck his Rustler on my other friend's starter box (EZ-Start wasn't working). The engine always started right up, and of course my Rustler was already on and ready to go. His nitro engine would take time to spool up, which was noticeable since the tires wouldn't throw dirt immediately like mine would. Mine was also a lot quieter, and you almost couldn't hear it! Overall, I think my electric performed better. Tomorrow I am off to a long stretch of street to hopefully go over 60mph!

I race my brushless MT's against nitro's mostly because there are no other electrics to race against around here. The track is in-doors but even with the ventilation, the gas fumes are obnoxious. It's also recommended to wear ear plugs because, if you don't, your ears will be ringing by the time you leave :007:

wishmasstir, If you are going out in the middle of the woods to race rc's, all you need is a lead acid car/boat battery and you'll have power for electrics for most of a day. You can easily haul a DC battery out there if you're riding a quad :018: There's always a way around the lack of A/C power.

I can hardly stand corner marshaling for 1/8th scale buggies. Talk about fumes? My eyes and lungs start burning everytime I have to corner marshal for them :dft004:
I almost feel like I need to start wearing a hazmat suit to the races :037:

It's also easy to kill a nitro motor while corner marshalling. If you accidently cover the exhaust, oopsy... my bad :005:
Try killing a BL that easily.
Also, flame outs during a race are frustrating. That's something I don't mind not having to worrying about.

No tuning. On the past 4 huge meeting's(over 30 nitro's) there where 3 brushless maxx's including mine. We could plug 'n play, but the other nitro's(mostly savage's) had starting trouble's. They never ran good on these meeting's. And then it is quite fun to drive with the same power without makeing any noise or having starting issues, just plug in your battery's and go.

Killing a brushless is easy, just unplug 1 battery connector...
