Tons of motors :D
I have had pretty good luck with the schulze 18.97 on the 7xl 9xl and 2250. The controller did not heat up with the 2250 as muc has with the 7xl. The 7xl draws some amps some time and puts heat in the esc. I have not got a chance to run a 8xl so can not say for sure about the run time or performance. The 9xl on the other hand does real well. I ran a 9xl on a 7020 with out no problems cause the amp draw was not enough to make it get hot. It was in a monster gt with some big tires. |
Told'cha, CHC, so the 7xl heated the controller up more because it drawed more amps? Oh i get it now!
CHC, want to run a few questions past you, since you have these motors, on the 9XL, would 14 cells be worth while and what kind of gearing would you do in an e-maxx with 64 tooth 32 pitch spur for that manny cells?

here is a video on the truck http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.ph...3d5ad59ddd0513
As far as gearing it would depend on if you have the stock diffs or the buggy diffs. |
consider them stock diffs, I know where to work from there
i would say about a 20 tooth pinion.
20, i dunno, maybe a 18?
20 should work out good could run a 18 for a little longer run time to. if you going out for a speed run you could step up to a 22 or so.
22, its gonna be almost half the size of the spur! :p
Ok I just recieved my wanderer 8xl, and still waiting on my hybrid bulks to show up. I now have to pick up some 5.5mm conectors and find out if there is a motor clamp for xl cans.
Also I got to figure out some gearing. Basicly the diffs and trans are of stock gearing on a twin force. 50t spur is all I know for now, going to have todo some research on gear ratios. but I think I am going to slap a 16t pinion on it and hope for the best since I am not the best at gearing calculations and figureing stuff out like that. Just going to use trial and error and hope not to pop my 18.97 esc |
I would keep a check on motor and controller temps every 2mins when test running. This way you can see if the motor or controller are heating up quickly, and from there you can get an idea of whether to gear up, down or stay the same. Thats the way I did it
7XL on 14 cells is a great setup, good speed/power and average runtimes. Best suited to the 9920 though.
I really have not had the chance to play with the 20 series warriors. but unless the worked on alot of improvements over the 18 series I am not going to fool with them
What is up with the 18 series?
I do not like the wierd lose of phase posistion it gets accelerting at various times. sounds like your trans is being ate up.
