I agree to a point, I think it wouldn't be much different than BL because I'm sure he had some fine tuneing to do to get the results he has ?
Throttle control might be the biggest factor w/a BL set up. I'm thinking of attempting this myself this coming weekend, I have a buddy w/a little eco car we could use. |

I don't see why its impossible. It fairly easy to push a small car in neutral on the level.
Our cars have quite a bit of power in them. Hold onto the bumper sometime and hit the thr and see how much it pulls. Much stronger than it seems. You can get so much TQ out of a elec motor I'm sure it could do it well, assuming you can get the traction to do so and not burn out the spd control. Gearing way down would help alot. I'm curious how the lst was geared. |

With a brushless I think it would be key to actually keep the tires spinning...if you throttle controlled so the tires would have full traction, I think you would have problems.

We need to out do him, just to show how epic electric power is-; if I gear my Gmaxx down really low, I reckon the old girl could easily tow my sister's boyfriend's ford feista- just whack the jumbo maxxes on to get some extra grip...

Still got to give the guy credit for doing something like this. BUT what is all of that noise and smoke coming off that pig? POLLUTER!! I belive that it would not be all that hard to duplicate or even beat that with a BL. Maybe put a little more wieght in it to give you better traction and do direct drive. Why burn up a clutch or slipper if you have the right torque motor setup in it? Once you get it moving your golden due to momentum.

I think for brushless, start up would be the hard part (particularly for sensorless). I imagine you'd see some serious amps trying to get rolling, but once it's going it would pull it along just fine, gear for 2-3 MPH top speed and don't do it frequently.

I would be impressed except I don't really think it's possible. Not that it doesn't have the power to do it...I don't think a 20+lb rc could ever get enough traction to move a ~2800lb car. No matter what the gearing is I think traction would be the problem.
I hooked my stock e-maxx up to a 45lb laundry basket and dragged it across carpet. Traction was pretty good as the way I hooked it up as soon as the strap tightened up it was actually pulling the truck down giving more traction. I had plenty of power with a bone stock setup but any more weight and I don't think it'd have the traction. I may try pulling a riding lawn mower (~400-500lbs) just to see if it's feasible to pull anything heavier |
With the rider being lighter would it still have extra rolling resistance with the belts and aux drive stuff ?

I can disengage everything and it's very easy to push, much easier than a Honda Civic.

I beleive he said 27 lb truck, lets call it 28lbs and a 2800lb car, 100x it's weight. The big tractor pull tractors easily way about 8000lbs and a fully weighted sled weighs about 50,000lbs,(about 6x it's weight. granted it's dragging it not pulling it on wheels but those tractors are set up with optimal weight distribution and as many as 3 turbine angines or 4-5 allison aircraft engines for a total of close to 9000HP
