I have to disagree on that point. Yes we should be able to answer for our own stupidity, but you also have to look at this from a perspective that may be unfamilar to you. Not everyone has the same mental capacity as yourself to project good sound judgment in every situation. Especially when booze or drugs are involved. Sure all of it is bad news, but some people are easily influenced by peers and even friends to do the stupidest things. But is it not our duty to protect our friends and family from harm? So if that guy died diving into that ice covered lake do you think that no one would feel guilty for goating him into that stunt? I would hope so. We have to be careful with who's lives with meddle, and we have to live with our own guilt if someone dies because of our own playful persuasions.

I think the term I'd use is schadenfreude...trust the Germans to have a word for it, stupid English...!

Here's an appropriately named one; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PhQ5WH13_Y

first off.. not everyone needs to be persuaded to do stupid things.... i myself have thought of lots of dumb things to do and done them myself.. few of which i got hurt and was lucky not to loose my own life doing so.. i did not do them for the purpose of other people to watch i did them to say i did them.. and yea doing backflips off of a 50 foot school into a 3 foot snow bank isn't smart but im here to tell you that i did it and lived.. i do feel for those who lost their lives doing dumb stuff to have someone else laugh.. but if noone was killed it was funny..

second.. lighten up.. smoke a joint and have a laugh!
