Believe it or not making servo bakes work I can figure out ? It's just that the M.M.M. ESC with 6s and ESC brakeing kinda scares me cause that seems to be issue for a LOT of failures. But def the simplist way out. I will have to reconsider servo brakes and try 6s w/ESC brakes I guess.

I think I'll elect to start with a M.M.M. and a 1717 w/6s with ESC brakes and experiment from there. Sometimes simple is better. Once I have it all together and see what the weight will be finished will also determin if I need to juice up to a different combo or higher voltage. I can always use this combo in something else if i find it less than ideal in the 5T Savy.

I thank you for your time and input James, Your word here is highly valued and greatly appreciated.

Planned on useing HC 6s 40C for the build. How you likeing yours ????

I have not had a chance to run my HC 5k 40c lipo yet... Finally got the battery tray made and just need to wire it up and give it a try with the 1717. If it meets its specs it was a steal, under 100 bucks for that kind of power!

I planned to use lutach's 10s esc for my 5t build, and run motor brakes. I have some 3200 30c lipos, enough to do 10s2p... I will try to keep the weight down, may even integrate the chassis with the roll cage, like a full tube frame...

As far as my info being highly valued... well if you say so! Just glad I could be here for you to bounce some ideas off.

For the record I have run quite a few MMM 6s setups with motor brakes and it seems to do fine. I usually run 50% brake force, plenty to stop a lst or a muggy! So it should have enough brake force to stop heavier stuff. I can't wait for the 8s monster, hope that is still in the works. That and a 1300kv 1717 or 1721+ would be gangster!

This is good to hear. On my LST's w/5s I usually run about 35% brakes so I reckon I'll be OK.
The 8s Monster would be welcomed for sure !!!

I agree with lincpimp, the mmm on 6s will handle esc brakes without a problem. I have 5 mmm's running 6s with esc brakes and have built 3 other trucks running the same setups. I think the whole "headroom" for brake spike is just a bunch of people scared to run 6s. If CC says it will handle 6s I believe them 100%. I had a Savage/mmm/1515 2.5d on 6s that had unreal power, so I think your stretched truck will have no problems. Your tire size is still in line with 1/8 scale monster trucks so no problem there. Forget the mech brakes, run esc brakes, truck will look a lot cleaner.

As far as diffs go, I ran the Cen Gen gear conversion without problem. I have no experience with the new "super diffs" from HPI. Seems like HPI would have just included the Super Diffs stock in the FLux. They were really advertising that the FLux could run on 6s, and then installed stock nitro diff gears. Not impressed.

I would like to see some one or company come out with a real 1/4-1/5 scale brushless monster truck. I have seen some conversion, planned on building something myself, but there really isn't and hubs/axle shafts/diffs that can handle a real 1/4 scale monster truck size tire coming off a 20 ft jump. I'm talking about running a Red Cat Racing size monster truck size tire. They are very big and twice as heavy. Even a HPI Baja would have a hard time handling the Red Cat size tire, during bashing sessions.

I'm talking about a truck that would use a Neu 2215/2230 size motor 10-12s lipo setup and move around 50mph. It could be done, with some modeling of parts, cnc machining and time. Of course we still need a CAR esc that can do 10-12s.

i abuse my savage flux's bulletproof diffs and so far, the rings and pinion are flawless (knock on wood) even though i've had 3 sets of diff cups and internals give up. once was from pure abuse doing about 50 standing backflips, 1 was from the diff screws backing out and creating play in the internal gears and the last one was from two of the screw heads shearing off. i'm not sure if they just got loose or they broke from the torque. i think the grease might have rendered my loctite useless. next time, i'm using oil.
