I'm curious, how long has the DB-17 conversion been out of stock??

Ok so with the help of Brett (cpe) I got the redcat rampage body on Wed. and I knew it was gonna be larger then what im used to but wow surprised me! The pics tell it all, if you own a proline f650 mgt/lst sized then you get the idea.
Just finished tonight (well morning now for me) doing painting duty this one takes a bit of paint. I wasnt able to do the color combo I wanted since i only had a little bit of the colors I wanted (red/yellow) and im broke so had to go with what I the most of which was black so thats the main color and I had enough yellow to toss in some added brightness. You will see the finished deal later its drying now and I still have silver to do next. Here is some comparison shots with the f650.
I tried my best to get the wheels wells lined up better but the dam front body mount wasnt working in my favor so thats why their off a bit but hey who will know while its flying by?

Thats a big deisel bastard of a body !
How thick, .60 ??
Looks reasonably scale w/the tire wheel combo, A+

Savage03 03.05.2010 04:33 PM

I would say .060 except at the bottom sections on both sides below the doors not sure what that might be called but once I get soe pics of it painted it will be easier to point out but its a bit thinner there for some reason.
Dam thing weights a bit to, gonna get the scale out and see.
Thanks for the comment to :yipi:

V0RT3X 03.05.2010 04:49 PM

It's thinner at some areas because of the moulding process. The start with a .060 sheet and it stretches over the mould and becomes thinner somewhere. The roof should be thick.

Savage03 03.05.2010 04:59 PM

Yea it is for sure and whole cab area really, the nose is to just at the bottom on the sides is thin and found the hard way since its been pretty cold here so I would keep the body somwhat warm with a heat gun and I got to close one time and now theirs a little bit of a warped spot lol. Oh well its a body I can live with it.

Savage03 03.05.2010 05:26 PM

Couple shots of it painted just gotta slap some stickers on it. Found that the silver area is pretty thin compared to the rest which is pretty thick and in the cold I was trying to keep it warm while painting with the trusty heat gun and got to close to the passenger side and well theirs now wavyness
All in all one of my better jobs im no painter by any means
Tips the scale at 1.6lbs vs the f650 at 9ozs.

Looks good and since its not a shelf queen, thats what counts. :)

Finnster 03.05.2010 09:15 PM

I have two of those trc packs for my savage, but they are to run 8s. You will kill them w/ that big truck on 4s.

Hc lipos are nice, but so are the neu packs when on sale. Nice truck otherwise.

Bondonutz 03.05.2010 11:34 PM

Looks purty kewl !!!!

Q, will the front tires rub the body at full lock when the suspension is compressed ?

Almost a pound and a half of lexan, jeepers thats a lot of plastic !

Savage03 03.05.2010 11:40 PM

Just looked and no just clears, I have integy 17mm adapters on there which stretch it out a tad and I have the maximizer 17mm beadlocks with 1/2" offset. If it becomes a issue I may look for more offset but I think at most it might rub on a hard landing for a second till springs back up and if the tires are ballooning.

Bondonutz 03.05.2010 11:57 PM

I would assume your running the standard width arms then ?

When I do asssemble mine, I looking to go with the Savage-XL arms and axles.

I'm really liking the look of your beadlocks with the LST tires, great looking combo !!

Savage03 03.06.2010 12:04 AM

Thanks! Just suks stupid losi stopped making these harder ones vs the ones they have now. I am running the Xl stuff, I have another old thread on what ive done to the savage probaly a few pages back now lol.

lincpimp 03.06.2010 12:08 AM

The aftershock tires are considerably lighter than the older lst1 tires... I am running them on my 6x6 maxx based truck. Lots of traction on the aftershock tires due to the voids in the lugs. But they do benefit from balancing, like all heavy tires.
