What do you think about the effects of this PCB (besides easier soldering)? It seems a bit counter intuitive for Turnigy to use heavy duty 8AWG wire only to have this "bottleneck" so-to-speak of the thin copper traces on the PCB. Would getting rid of the PCB make any notable difference in performance?

The only packs where all the tabs do not touch are the odd cell count packs.

For odd cell counts, (3S & 5S), the PCB has a solder trace that blows during over amp type situations.

In a way, I can see this as being a plus. If something shorted, you're not gonna see major melt down.

From what I've seen on the 4s and 5s packs, the PCB is just there as a mounting point. The tabs themselves fold over each other, so there is really not much traces being used.

The 5S pack doesn't have the solder trace like the 3S pack does?

I don't remember seeing any, but now that you mention it, there must have been one, unless the last + or - main wire was longer to reach the bottom most tab on one end.
