They should both work fine. I think what happened is someone just thought it would be cool to get these tires to fit on a relux low profile racing wheel one day and everyone took to the fad. The thing is it really doesn't matter what wheel you put these on the work great. Badlands are popular because they work, regardless of what wheel they are mounted to. The relux thing is a matter of visual aesthetics in my eyes. My first set of badlands I ran on maxamizer beadlocks and had zero issues in terms of the tire or wheel. My second set I decided to see what all the jazz was about and tried the relux. They worked just as well, and with mounting them on the inside it almost appears to be a narrower badland, like that of a lpr tire. Would they work any better than the badland on a correctly sized proline wheel, I doubt it. Will they appear slightly cooler, yes.

Well, when I get my new set, I will post my findings and photos....

another exemple of monting position and what I've try to prevent the foam from splitting.
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...DSCF0004-1.jpg Left one is mount on the inside lip Right side is mount normal (temporary) http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...DSCF0005-1.jpg http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...DSCF0007-1.jpg http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...DSCF0006-1.jpg |
Yeah, I believe I've seen those pics on the Traxxas forum as well :)
I like the inside look more. |
Yep ... that looks much nicer than the original mounting position.

Cut badlands on LPRs....I did this set over 2 years ago IIRC

Did you actually cut a piece of off the tire?
What about this washing method Arct1k mentioned concerning the foams? How does this work? |
Yep, cut it off. No worrying about anything. Those tires ran goooood.

Had the foams in water for over 24 hours but they didn't change :(. If the above doesn't work does any one have a recommendation about which inserts to buy? |
Anyone any tips on the above?
Really want these tires up and running again. Buying new foams will cost me around $20 which is a bit steep seeing I only paid $40 for these tires, with foams on dish wheels. Who can give me a goldon tip / link? |
Did you try the heat gun or hair dryer trick on the foams? If that won't do the trick, new foams is about the only option.
|
You can run the Badlands on the Pro-Line LPR wheels (same size as Rulux Half-Ups) or the Pro-Line VTR wheels.
|
@ bdebde, I've put the hair dryer on the foams for like a minute but nothing happened. No idea how long I should point it at one spot?
@ Chad, yeah I know, but the rims arn't the problem, it's those damned foams :(. These were molded foams which are more expensive. If I'm going to buy new ones, any suggestions?? PATF100 - PANTHER STANDARD MT FOAM INSERTS (4) WHITE PATF145 - PANTHER TRUGGY FOAM INSERTS (4) WHITE Or any suggetions from LiquidRC or eBay? |
Ofna yellow molded foams (LPR if you use JC Rulux Half-Ups or Pro-Line LPRs or VTRs)! I have run them in various setups, including the standard MT size as well as the LPR size in both LPR wheel/tire combos and Rulux Half-Ups/Badlands MT combos.

Chad, which one ? (100 / 104 or 106) ? Can't wait to try them on my RC8Te on this BMX park:
Will also order my Ofna 21067 there so I can get my STe back up and running. |
