Will do.

BTW, I got rained out today on doing some real runs to test the MMP so hopefully tomorrow. I was mad too because I just got all my lipos in today for the buggy and couldn't even run them.

well...even though i didn't want to...i pulled out my old CC bec (it still works after owning it for close to 3 years now..lol) and hooked it up to the mmp and VOILA'!...BEC/rx power cutout issues gone!...ah well...i'll send it in eventually once my novak HV pro gets back from warranty service like i said....and thanks for all your updates bro!

simplechamp 05.14.2010 10:33 PM

Ran the buggy today and even with the cap the receiver still powered down a few times. Look like the MMP will be headed back to Castle.

hootie7159 05.15.2010 12:52 AM

that succks bro...like i pm'ed you before, the cap i'm using was a 4700uF 10V cap...and if that isn't enough, then I don't know what is...lol...and BTW, the s300 servo I was using finally stripped so that could have been part of the problem except for the fact that I installed a brand new airtronics servo and it did the same thing...ah well, i will follow suit and send this one in as well....and I just sold a mmp that I had as a back up to the back up :( and that one woorked just fine.....lol...who knew that a brand new mmp would do this?...lol

simplechamp 05.15.2010 04:19 PM

Well the good thing is you know Castle will back their product and sort everything out. I'll be sending mine out Monday.

hootie7159 05.15.2010 04:34 PM

i know....but i might as well have gotten a MMM...sensor vs. sensorless doesn't really matter to me as long as its durable....lol....but i'll be sending mine in as soon as i get the havoc back....CC customer service is top notch though.. :)

There was a guy on RC Tech who wanted to trade a new MMMv3 for a new MMP and I almost traded with him (this was before I was aware of the BEC issue of course) but I really want to try one of the sensored Tekin motors eventually so I kept the MMP.

Aside from the few power-down issues the MMP ran awesome, fan never even turned on with my buggy running in grass geared for 40mph.

hootie7159 05.20.2010 02:34 AM

hey bro...any word on the repaired mmp from castle??

simplechamp 05.20.2010 11:24 AM

I haven't sent mine in yet. Thomas suggested I try like 4000uF capacitance. I know yours didn't work with that, but I'm going to try anyway. If it still shuts down while driving I'm going to send it in. Probably get a run in tomorrow to see once and for all what I need to do.

Just noticed it on my hyper 9e last week. I ran at a different track that was very tight layout (10th scale track but running buggies and truggies). I am going to try the spektrum cap to my receiver but I dont know if that will be enough. I am running a 7940hv hitec servo so that is probably part of the problem but I dont want to go back to a cheaper servo.

Guess if the cap doesn't work I might just have to do the external bec(that will let me raise bec voltage even more). Don't know why castle only lets you go to 7v (7.4 would make more sense)but at least that is an improvement over everyone else.

The pro will go higher...

? all of mine only let me set up to 7v.

simplechamp 05.22.2010 02:45 AM

Maybe Arct1k was referring to the Castle BEC Pro? Or just the regular CC BEC? Because I agree, the MMP BEC only allows programming between 5-7V.

I still haven't got to run again yet with the higher capacitance, hopefully will on Sunday.

any updates simplechamp?

simplechamp 06.08.2010 12:13 PM

I ran a few sets of packs the other day, still using the 1500uF cap. It seemed to cut a few times right at the start of the run, then didn't cut at all the rest of the pack or through the next sets of packs, so not really sure what is going on.

I still need to make a bigger cap bank, or get some bigger caps to try around 3000-4000uF. For now the issue isn't causing much (if any) trouble for me, so I'm going to hold onto the MMP. Still got plenty of time to warranty if I decide to.
