hm, if some cabon is loose, put some thin super glue on it.

the carbon of my medusa 3680 got damaged, so I soaked the entire carbon bonding with super glue. works well so far.

I will try some WD-40 inside the can itself on the rust. It's supposed to be somewhat safe for electronics -- removes moisture and clears out rust.

right, it solves rust. but it should not stay greasy afterwards. whipe off the oil later. maybe you invest 2 bucks for one of those technical cleaners, which are used for PCP's.
