Whats the popular choice for axle carriers these days? I am getting sick of popping out pillow balls all the time from even just mild rollovers.

I researched the True Track from RPM but seems to still have upper pillowball issue and thats only the rear anyhow.

I saw a thread about putting copper retaining rings on the carriers and I don't even want to mess with it. Also it seems Traxxas has a newer version out that includes retaining rings??

I think I want to skip all that and go for something aluminum that way there is NO WAY the ball can pull through. I did not see an offering from Fastlane, and was wondering what you think the best choice would be??? I am running 3905 CVD's so they have to be applicable for the newer Maxx trucks. Thanks!

Traxxas #5334R because they are cheap, has the dust boots over the pillow balls (genius) and are strong enough for my 11lbs GorillaMaxx/UE truck.

I like to include plastic parts somewhere in the drive line on my trucks to try and make sure that I break plastic rather than bend aluminum.

Hmm, I appreciate the Tekno link, but it seems there are some extras included that I really wouldn't be using. It would be nice if they just offered the carriers because I do like the screw in retainers on the backside. If I was running stock axles I would probably give this a go, but I have CVD's and it seems like that little axle and 17mm hex conversion wouldn't work with them...

Good to hear about the 5334R's in a real world sense. I will keep them in mind and at this point, being cost friendly is something I need to start focusing on more!

It's a bit hard to see from the picture but the #5334R has a retaining ring already on them. I have not yet had a single problem with a pillow ball dropping out.

I'm sure the Tekno's are excellent I just wouldn't want to not have the pillow ball dust boots. :mdr:

Wow yea I just checked the bay and all 4 of these newer style with the retaining rings can be had for $20 shipped...I'm going to go that route for now!
