Hmmm... You beat me. But I will say that my Lipo pack that brought me to 56.5mph is only rated at 43amps continuous (5400mah 8C). Now, you are forcing me to do better :mad:1. Unfortunately I don't have the funds for these batteries.

Do some more testing, and I bet you'll go faster!

You can see the deep scratches in the shell of the two top cells. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a lipo catch fire if subjected to such abuse?

I would really be intrested to know how a Lipo would react to a nasty bash like that!

jhautz 06.16.2006 06:51 PM

Are the dented cells still holding charge? Did the dent break any seals or anything inside. I'm curious if the cells are still useable?

Nick 06.16.2006 07:06 PM

They look very usable. I wouldn't be suprised if those cases are thicker than Sub-C Nimhs.

coolhandcountry 06.16.2006 07:15 PM

My limns have a plexiglass top and bottom plate on them. So you would have to wear that out before you hit cell.

I'd definiately dispose of those damaged cells,or atleast keep them somewhere safe,no way i'd take the risk,if it was a NiMH or alkaline or whatever i'd do the same,if you've ever had a house fire you know what a knightmare it is,so much stuff can't be replaced,it turns your life upside down.i'm very vigilant and a little paranoid about fire risk now.I use Lipos BTW, for those who say they're too risky, they're not they just need the appropriate respect and care.

cart213 06.16.2006 10:12 PM

They still hold a charge. I used them again right after the crash and took the pede up to 57.7 mph.

jhautz 06.16.2006 10:34 PM

but if they are damaged.... are they dangerous? I know I wouldnt keep a Lipo pack that was damaged. I dont know if Li-ion is any safer. I'm just asking, cuz I really don't know and I'd like to understand.

MetalMan 06.16.2006 10:43 PM

Personally, I don't think it can be damaged all that badly. I can't see if the metal can has a dent in it or not, but even if it does, it can't be too bad. The scratches on the cells' cans are nothing.

cart213 06.18.2006 01:36 AM

There are not any dents, just the scratches. I found some thick rubber shrink wrap that I'm going to use for extra protection.

BrianG 06.18.2006 02:58 AM

Or just make sure the batteries aren't the highest point of the truck. ;) :005:

cart213 06.18.2006 01:32 PM

Yeah, that too. :p

Got my milwaukee packs today, however with my work/class load all week it doesn't look like I'll have time to build some packs until friday.

crazyjr 06.19.2006 08:40 PM

I'm sure there is a link somewhere, but where are you buying those packs

DMCfirestar500 06.19.2006 08:55 PM

ebay, got mine for 220 shipped just before I found out that guy was selling individual cells. The individual cells route is usually cheaper, and less work unless you somehow want to use the built in electronics from the milwaukee packs or something.
