Sneeck, did you add a slight kick-up to the chassis?

Sneeck 06.23.2006 12:54 AM

Glad you guy's like it.

It's made on a laser cnc machine(same guy who made Jasper's truggy chassis) and he knew some one that has a bench to bend all kind of stuff. So from there off the 1 piece design, and side kick up's(the battery kick up idea came from a rc10t2, and it work's!). It has the front kick up of 10 degrees like a stock skidplate. The side kick up's really give's it's strength, you can't bend it by hand.

It would be pretty impossible to bend 3 mm 7075 by hand and come out flaweless and without scratches. Tough stuff.

Sylvester,

No I ran out(and still am) of money for this project. I have been throwing around the idea though. Mayb with my next chassis........

Here you go guy's, a preview of the top plate. I'm not happy about it, some hole's don't match up(bulk's to chassis). Good thing it's a proto plate, i'm going to change a few thing's in the final design. It will be 3 mm 7075. The brace's are 5 mm 7075.

I think that's the sweetest thing i have ever seen! If i may, was the aluminum expensive or not that bad? And why 3mm and not 2mm?

Sneeck 06.23.2006 03:33 PM

I paid for this chassis, including the brace's and a couple of small bit's, bending and shipping 100 euro's. That come's down to around 120$.

I want the chassis to be strong. 2 mm ain't gonna cut it. I'm still debating to let the top plate be made out of 3 mm carbon. But that will have to wait till the summer anyhow.

neweuser 06.23.2006 03:39 PM

Wow, NOT BAD at all. Carbon would be neat looking, it bring out the flames a little more, and take off a little weight, since your bottom is all one piece it would work great being Carbon Fiber! Great project, can't wait to see the next step!

jhautz 06.23.2006 04:08 PM

If you do the Top plate from CF, make it red CF. That would be sweet with the flames. Or you could just have the top plate annodized red so the flames jump out at you more.

Sweet project.

You're not going to be driving that thing around I hope... It's too pretty to be allowed to touch any terrain!

Sylvester 06.23.2006 06:56 PM

Im speechless, this is absolutely the most amazing chassis ive seen in a emaxx yet! I wish i had a CNC !! :(

cemetery gates 06.23.2006 07:19 PM

awesome!!! Definitely would try and make the top plate red carbon fiber or anodized aluminum. that would be SICK!!!!:004:

squeeforever 06.23.2006 08:22 PM

NICE! However, whats that brace in the back for? Am I missing something here?

Sylvester 06.23.2006 08:30 PM

Its a brace for the rear of the motor (1950) I think.

Sneeck 06.24.2006 02:34 AM

Thank's for the too kind word's guy's. That red carbon would deffinatly be sick, i'll try and look into it.

The 1950 is heavy and I don't trust the 2.5 mm thread it got. I'm afraid to strip them when it come's off a jump. So I got the idea of a moveable motor mount, there will be a ring around the back of the motor with 2 tapped hole's. Those match up with that rear brace and when tightend down the motor can't move.

squeeforever 06.24.2006 02:36 AM

Ah, I thought it was something of the sort. Good idea!

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 06.24.2006 03:44 AM

That is a damn good idea Sneeck. Looks great, can't wait to see it finnished!
