I would of bought decent 8mm UE CVDs and 8 spyder diffs. Instead of RDLogics and Maximizer, that I've broke. :(

Thanks for letting us know what crap not to buy. This is the best bl forum on the net. I'm happy that we have squee here. Without him we would all have to learn by our own trials and errors. Squee and BrianG are the best ever. I wouln't know how to do those cool links without them. the link is just some pretty cool body clips that I bought from ebay.

:o Well geez...Thanks man...I wouldn't know ANYTHING if it wasn't for Mike, Serum, Dafni, Leroy, Joe, and several others...I'm just glad I found this place...

Funny. We pass on knowledge, as the "generations" on the forum here change slowly. Keep it up, boys!

As for an esc that runs like the evx, i still think the Noavk hv-maxx is a great choice, even though its a little under-powered, it still will run with any nitro, and just as tough as the evx. I have overheated mine on four separate occasions, and thermaled on one of them and it still runs excellent |
i wouldve let someone else solder/setup my BL system, as ive now got problems, there in this thread: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3665
i think that if i got a rusty i will put the 380c in the rusty, and run brushed in the T4. the T4 aint tough enough. |
I think with all said as giving credit from go4gold, he missed leroy in all that. Kudos to all as well from me, i have definately learned a lot!
As for an esc, myself, still looking for the perfect one. But am hearing many good things about the mamba! IMO, i stay away from Novak...it's not hard to beat Nitro with BL power, I want an esc that won't thermal....but is smooth.... |
I will say that the Quark is my favorite controller so far. It has many features, including a built in LVC for the Lipos. This controller is also smooth as butter, and works with 4 pole motors(unlike BK). The Quark monster pro is a step above Shulze for smoothness as well(Shulze is similar in smoothness to the BKs in my experiance - perhaps slightly better, while the Quark is superior to both). Another benefit to the Quark so far has been their prompt, attentive service. I have seen 2 failures, which were replaced with no questions asked(within days - not weeks or months).
The only disadvantages to the Quark in my opinion are the lack of reverse braking(engages forward immediately if running in reverse and changing directions) - this doesn't bother me a whole lot, as I prefer to drive forward anyways and only use revers occasionally to back out of trouble. The Quark could also use a larger heatsink built into the case. I did some pretty serious testing yesterday at the track with the Quark. I did take some preventative measures regarding heat - I milled my own custom rear g-maxx upper extension plate that incorporates a 3/8" heatsink built into the bottom of it, with a 40mm fan blowing across the controller and heatsink. I ran a total of nearly 2 hours - almost non stop in the 90 degree NY sun, without a thermal - I actually was trying to thermal it near the end of the day, but was unsuccessful! A simple heatsink and fan makes a huge impact, as many already know. My setup was a Neu 15151.5y motor(4 pole, 2200Kv) mated to my -soon to available- "slipperential" setup on the extended g-maxx truck. Testing was done with the body on, on a race track. The truck is a little over 10 pounds RTR and was geared for low-mid 30s(plenty fast - almost too fast for the track). The motor and controller never exceeded 145F through it all. The Maxamps 8000mah 2s packs(2 wired in series) provided excellent punch and about 25 minutes of race runtime. I also ran some A123 Lion packs for testing in between the 8k mah 4s packs. These will likely be a product available soon from RC-Monster, along with the Neu motors(these motors are top notch - after nearly 2 hours, my motor never exceeded 145F on a hot day - a testament to their efficiency). Joe (Batfish)was with me and assisted in the testing, along with piloting my race rig for 30 or so minutes. In conclusion, the mamba monster Maxx controller should be an excellent product, as all CC stuff is top notch, but the Quark deserves some serious reognition for their outstanding product and customer service. I would not hesitate to recommend the monster Pro controller from Quark. With proper cooling measures and setup, it is AWESOME. Best of all, the Quark is already available. :) |
I found if you change the brake delay it seems to effects the reverse to forward. I not sure why.

Thanks, but in many way I'm just a noob. :) I remember starting out here around Nov of 2005 totally clueless about BL. Just about (if not all) everyone here is willing to help and explain pretty much anything. Mike: The Quarks are definitely top-notch, but you have to admit it's pretty hard to beat the Mamba Max for the price! Not to mention the infinitely programmable torque and brake curve. Nevertheless, I am not sorry I got the Quark at all. |
BrianG I was just reading through some old post that you started back in Oct time frame. You definitely sounded like a noob back then but your geekdom prevailed and now you're one of the experienced guys around here. It shows a few months, some cash and a good working brain goes a long way.
newEuser (I got it right the firt time unlike Squee) It was mostly sarcasm cause Squee has been cleaning up after me and between both Brian and Squee they showed me how to make a custom link. I didn't forget Leroy, Serum( don't know or can't remember Serum's real name) Dafni( for the first few days of reading I thought you were a female Sorry, it's the name) Mike, and Joe. Everybody on the forum has been great and very helpful. I've been teasing Squee and Brian for a few days(Lucky me they have a sense of humor as I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings) Edit: I guess that I will have to name everyone individualy so I don't hurt anyones feeling. So here goes, A couple more studs MetalMan( quit watching me). and hotnCold(nice avatar). I could go on and on but I'm at the bottom of my window with no more space to type. |
Serums real name is Rene and Dafni's real name is Daniel.
|
Thanks, I remember Rene's name now. Like I said your the best Squee. Now that we're on a first name bases my name is Brian. no G as I'm not geeky yet.lol
