3s is generally not enough for a revo. it weighs too much for the battery.

if you picked up an 8xl and a 4s lipo your truck will be great.

What would be the best BL motor for the price? Considering I'm using MM ESC and 3s 8000 MaxAmps?

Thanks,

I had a friend who ran a feigao 8l motor in a revo on 3s lipo and he was very happy with it. The 8l has a 5mm shaft, so that should cure the breaking issue you have had. The 8l is around 3000kv, so similar to the vxl motor.

OK, so where can I purchase a Feigao 8L and is there a big difference between the 8L and 8XL?

Mike sells them in the RCM store, or just about any good online RC boat retailer has them, even ebay has them for low prices. The difference is in the torque- the XL motor is longer than the L, so also runs slightly cooler generally. The 8L and 3s lipo would be a great setup with 3s lipo or equivalent Nimh voltage. Otherwise the 8XL on 4s lipo is even more powerful, but also more expensive.

If you will retain the 2 speed and mech brakes the 8l will work fine. If you intend to lock the tranny to allow for motor braking thru the esc, you will want an 8-9xl motor and 4s lipo.

Thanks for you help guys - I've ordered 1 of each (8L n 8XL).

Ha-ha, that will give you plenty of options for sure.
