I'm sure they are using hardened steel, like what Mike uses on his pinions for use with steel spurs.

captain harlock 09.15.2006 04:57 PM

I believe the whole thing, including the stock clutch bell is put together by the people at FDM.
Looks quite neat, but I doubt you'll be able to change pinions that easy. Plus, these clutch bells are very heavy.

Serum 09.15.2006 05:00 PM

Yes, the weight, being so close to the fastest turning part of the car is a concern. 1oz extra on that motor is like 17oz at the wheels with a 17 to 1 ratio. (not saying it is 1 oz)

neweuser 09.15.2006 05:01 PM

i guess it's the same concept as brass on aluminum then. I think it's a neat idea. But yeah, the weight? Hmmm, lst's aren't all that heavy are they? I would think almost weight would more of an issue like in a maxx or something?

I see what you mean by weight now...sory, posted the same time!

Serum 09.15.2006 05:02 PM

read my post neweuser, and you know why weight so close to the motor is a bad thing.

neweuser 09.15.2006 05:06 PM

right, i just did after i posted..LOL, basically saying spinning something heavy is not a good thing?

squeeforever 09.15.2006 05:09 PM

You might want to put some foam under the ESC.

nice lst man.

brianG, a guy that i know has a FD lst and he said that the "pinion part" is JB welded into the clutch bell. i was suprised to hear that actually.............

squeeforever 09.15.2006 06:51 PM

Knowing Fine Design, I'm not...

Wow. It looked like a mod, but I didn't think it would be so crude. I suppose if it works...

Serum 09.16.2006 01:31 AM

The line between 'working' and a 'good solution' is rather thin.

It's not something you want to depend your number 1 position in a race onto.

captain harlock 09.16.2006 01:35 AM

Funny Fine.
Abolic, if you need to modify the LST go to Mike, you'll never regret it. Trust me.

aqwut 09.16.2006 12:37 PM

Maybe Chris Fine Drilled out hte center of the clutch bell or something.... I wans thinking of making an adpater for a clutchbell... that would be awesome.. and not too hard if you had the tools... But Very nice LST.... You got everything as a whole package from FineDesign?...

captain harlock 09.16.2006 04:09 PM

yeah, except for the charger.
