i read some info on lipos and i think i will get the ones i posted a link to earler about but i need a good charger for them under $120 and wat amp should i charge at i want at least 5 amp capible charger and will the bateries be able to handle 7 feet of air
i think the ice charger is the most affordale for lipos but idk how good is it..are u buyin the 6000mah or 8000mah?
I have had good luck with my ice. It only does 4s at 8a maxx. It does 1c maxx on charge amp to.
I can recomend the ICE... I have been using it for a couple years and it works great IMO. I actually have two of them.
i dont want ice it can only charge 10 cells at once so i found this Hyperion EOS7i Charger on max amps it sounds good wat do u all think http://www.maxamps.com/index.html?lmd=38968.470081

I like my 7i a lot, especially when coupled with the LBA6 or LBA10 (newer model) balancer. It can handle up to 5s lipo or 25 NiCD/NiMH cells, and even charges lead-acid batts. Max charge current is 7amps. Obviously, the balancer is only needed with lipos. A couple of things to note about the 7i:
- It has a 120w limit. This means that the battery voltage X the charge current will not go higher than 120. So, you can charge a 4s pack at 7A, but a 5s pack at "only" 5.7A (5s X 4.2v/cell X 5.7amps = 120watts). - You'll need a 12v DC power supply capable of at least 150 watts (~13 amps). - I recommend to shorten the input leads. They are about 5 feet long and not really big enough (gauge) for that length IMO. Shorten to about 1-2 feet. |
thx for the help 4200 shv and Hyperion EOS7i is wat i will get
your not goin lipo anymore?have u searched on the trinity 4600s or venom 4600?
i have the EOS 7i, the only thing i don't like, it'll only do my 3s to 4amps, not more than that though. I got the 989, still waiting to try it. But i like my Hyperion, easy to use and does a good charge.'
BrianG-a bit off topic, and sorry for the hijack, but you can charge your 4s at 7amps with no probs on your EOS 7i? |
why cant it charge higher than 4 amps can i go 5 amps on 4200 4 at a time and im not goin lipo because i dont know enough about them yet and all the problems about them
Never have figured that out. It's rated to 7amps. Brian G and myself have been trying for awhile with no resolution. It may be the charger. I have the 989 now, yet to be used, but will tonight to see if it'll do my batts in series. I love lipo!

However, I HAVE charged my 14 cell GP3300 pack at as close to 7A as the charger will go before it hit the 120w limit with no problems. |
Ah, i see. Well, as you know, i tried the 989 last night. It did my 5s no probs at 6amps.
I thought you had the 8000 mah packs. It wouldn't do 8amps charge or haven't tried.
I haven't tried as it was my first attempt to charge in series on the 989. But it worked great at 6amps so far. only took 1.5 hours. My 3s alone on the Hyperion on 4amps took 2.5 hours or more. But now i can both packs and love this thing! I kept the Hyperion though, saving it to charge my girls NiMh's and the rx packs for the Jato's. Although, i may try the power supply that came with the 989 with my hyperion and see if it was actually the charger or the power supply. I wouldn't think it's the PS though, the output was reading 12.36-12.48v going to the charger though.
